Sea Rock Villa
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed March 3, 2011

We organised our stay at Sea Rock Villa through a guide, so were a little nervous as to what to expect.
We needn't have been.
The villa was spotless, new built and the rooms were very large and spacious. Good sized balconies to sit out on overlooking a very clean, pleasant pool.
The chef hadn't arrived, so we ate at a nearby restaurant, but that was not an issue as the food was scrumptios and he was in place for the last night of our stay. Ravi, the manager provided delicious breakfasts for us and whipped up a sandwich whenever we felt peckish, plus the beer was 250 rupees and no service charge/tax. That's cheap for a hotel/villa!
The gardens were lovely, with sun-shelter and beds for everyone. Right on the beach, so you could choose between the pool or the sea - and the beach was very safe, with wonderful waves, something our 8 year old appreciated.
Lying in the hammock or on a sunbed, with a cold beer in hand, listening to the waves crash gently on the beach was heaven. Mind you, we come from a dry country so a beer anywhere is heaven.
The place seems set up for couples (old or young) and young children may find little to entertain themselves.
Ravi will organise tuk-tuks for you to visit local attrractions such as elephant rides or turtle hatcheries, as well as the Brief Garden or even water skiing at Bentota (we used Siggi's - next to the German bakery). You can catch the bus to Bentota for 15 rupees each (children free). Tuk-tuks will get you there for 150 rupees if you bargain hard.

Directions?
If you want to get here, you can catch the train from Colombo Fort. Sea Rock Villa is no more than 100m from Induruwa station and you can walk South to it or take a 50 rupee tuk-tuk.
This'll save you the tortuous 2 1/2 hour car drive down and save $50 each way.
I think you could also catch a bus from Colombo to Inuruwa, but I don't think I'd recommend it.

Couple of slight cons:
Noise from the road can be loud.
No TV in the rooms.
Apparently both of these issues are being "fixed". Windows along the road-facing corridor balcony to cut out the road noise. TVs being put in rooms. Read future reviews from others to see if these have been addressed.

Overall a super place. Really I'd like to keep it to myself, but then no-one else would patronise it, it would go out of business and I wouldn't have it there to go to again.
Highly recommended.
