This is the place you wanna go when you visit Sri Lanka! i love great arquitecture, interior and comfort hotels and this place is just beyond! so much attention to detail in terms of decoration, food and service. i havent eaten any better than the hotels restaurant. amazing curries and vegetarian dishes and fish, mmmmh! the staff was very attentive and professional. its a place you can stay for a week and you wont get bored. the beach is 2 minutes away and the hotel ground with the pool offers photoopportunities to make everyone jealous. the balines massage was one of the very best i ever had. very recommendable place!!! i will come back!

The character in this hotel is not to be missed! The rooms are really interesting and comfortable, the pool is great, the beach is lovely- especially for some body boarding and the food is delicious.

The service was not as good as other hotels in Sri Lanka and the staff were a bit surly, but that did not spoil our stay. If you are in the area this hotel is a must!

I visited this hotel many times 10 years ago and am very happy to say that Paradise Road have really enhanced what was a fantastic experience before! The addition of the swimming pool and the improvement of the food and rooms make this an unforgettable place. The Manager and staff were VERY attentive and helpful. The rooms are really beautiful and ours had a huge balcony with views to the sea. The train to Colombo runs at the bottom of the garden which always provides interesting visions of local people on their way to work. The food was really good...can recommend the black pork curry, which is a Paradise Road favourite of mine! And the seafood platter was both ultra fresh and reasonably priced! Spoil yourself with a visit to this wonderful place!

Room Tip: All of the rooms are excellent!

This hotel was recommended to me by the owner - odd that! However, he grossly undersold its charm and elegance.

The grounds are simply amazing, far superior and larger than the grounds of much larger hotels in the area, plenty of private space if you are a couple.

The pool is large enough for all guests to cool down in. There is plenty of shade area around the gardens for when it gets too hot.

The food was simply amazing, a dish of devilled prawns cooked to my liking, extra devil! The staff are similar to those at the Tintagel in Colombo, very helpful, courteous and helpful.

I stayed down the road recently with a H&J all inclusive package which was more expensive, this is a far superior, exclusive retreat that offers exceptional value for money for the more discerning guests. It's not an all inclusive race for a buffet, it's a luxurious, quiet example of a fantastic villa on the coast.

If you are a couple or looking for a romantic getaway, this is an ideal place for a secluded romantic break on your travels.

The suites are absolutely huge and well furnished. I thought there had been a mistake in the booking for the price paid for the room. The balcony is also large and private. I've uploaded some pictures to give you an idea of what to expect for your break.

Next time I go back with my partner, I'll be requesting the same room. The A/C kept the large space more than cool enough.

The hotel is a little off the beaten track but a short tuk tuk ride and you are in the heart of Bentota.

The rail road does run the contour of the coast so most hotels are close to the passing trains. These trains do sound their horns occasionally to keep people safe so don't let this put you off. The sound of the waves crashing on the beach make more noise.

Do give it a try, you won't be disappointed.

We had a great two nights here in November '13. The hotel is a wonderful old property, beautifully modernised. We had a suite, which was enormous and had a stunning view of the ocean. Staff were outstanding, food of very good quality. The sense of being treated as a guest in the true meaning of the word was apparent throughout, one of the virtues of such a small property. Others have remarked on the noise from the railway line and, yes, it is very close and, yes, we were woken early by it the first morning but by the second we noticed it much less and wouldn't let it put us off staying there again.

I stayed here with my 2 year old daughter and husband during our recent trip to Sri Lanka and I can't stop thinking about going back. The hotel property is serene, beautiful and well appointed. It feels like you are living in your own colonial bungalow! This is a truly a must stay to those whom are Geoffrey Bawa fans.

Check in: It was extremely smooth and easy. We were greeted by big smiles and seeing that we had a 2 year old, they didn't hold us up. Cold towels were offered which was a welcome relief from the heat!

Ambience: The hotel grounds are well kept and the colonial buildings are beautiful. There are plenty of open air rooms for reading, comfy couches and little courtyards which gives the hotel a cosy, homely feel. It's very peaceful in the day, with the hotel staff always attentive but not imposing.

Beach: The nearby beach was a little too rough for swimming but it's still just a stone's throw away from a nice morning run or afternoon play on the sands.

Rooms: The rooms are spacious and well decorated. The air con isn't very cold though but that was alright. Our room (executive suit) opened out into the lawn and had a beautiful sitting area for playing and reading. The bathroom was large and had plenty of room for the 3 of us.

Wifi: Unfortunately, the wifi was a little unreliable while we were there.

Food: The food was so heavenly! It really was the best thing about the hotel! We had the Jaggery Sundae EVERYDAY! Everything was delicious and they were able to make us suitable food for our daughter. Breakfast was always a delight an it soon became very difficult to choose what to eat because everything was so tasty.

Service: Wonderful, attentive staff that are not too imposing. On one night, there was a power trip in our room and the staff rushed to us to try and fix it even though it was late at night.

Altogether it was a wonderful stay, a quiet little boutique gem that is perfect for relaxing.

Room Tip: Pick the rooms on the ground floor.

Stayed at this lovely boutique property for two nights in Oct 2013. We were put up in the executive suite, which was quite an experience. The hotel interiors are tastefully done, with a lot of attention to detail. The staff was friendly and attentive. The food was very tasty, although the menu could be more elaborate.

Room Tip: The suites are very spacious. We stayed at suite 7. highly recommended.
