“A tale of two hotels...”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 8, 2011

The Suhada Villa provides a tale of two hotels. The good Suhada has management and staff that cannot do enough to make you welcome and feel at home. The staff look after you very well; the chef takes real pride in serving you the very best home made food you can imagine. The pool and gardens are lovely. We loved the Suhada for this.

The bad Suhada has no hot water in the rooms, the electrics spark and burn and the toilet doesn't work properly. In room TVs don't work and there is no wifi. We didn't like this aspect of the Suhada.

I regret choosing Suhada Villa. Though I agree with the other reviews of the villa being well run by the manager and staff, the owners seem incapable of running a business in a respectable manner. We travelled with a large group with family and kids and enjoyed the stay but the money dealing with such a big group was a complete hassle. It is now several months later and I am still trying to get in contact with Lisa and Keven about money matters. I have sent numerous emails and have only heard back once from them. It has left a large stain on the trip.

The villa is quite deep into the village, away from the main road. The manager came to pick us up from the train station himself by tuk-tuk, and arranged one for us to go to the station when we left. Advantage of this is that it’s all very quiet and almost exclusive atmospheres. The down side of it was we couldn’t bother to go to the beach but stayed all the time in the villa. At the time we stayed, there was only two of us and it felt like we owned the whole villa.
The villa was very nice – it’s a two floor house, with the lounge and dining place on the ground floor and the five guest rooms upstairs. The room is spacious and cool. The furniture is nothing fancy but very homey. I like the bathroom – natural light and massive! No TV in the room but strangely there’s a LCD screen on the wall with options of some DVD movies.
It was sooooo relaxing sitting on the balcony, just watching the pool in the garden or reading a book. The pool is not on the big side but it was well maintained.
Since it’s nothing close to local restaurants or shops, we chose the half board basis. Great food for dinner – delicious and big portion (three courses). You’ll need to order in advance. Breakfast was nothing spectacular, had to say I was a little disappointed that they only served western breakfast (wanted to try some Sri Lankan breakfast).
The staff – the manager, the chef and the “bell boy” were all very friendly and attentive. I like the company of a beautiful kingfisher in the pool with me too!
Loved this place and would definitely go back at one stage!

BEAUTIFUL ROOMS, CLEAN POOL VIEWS OF THE GARDENS ENHANCED BY THE PROLIFIC BIRD AND ANIMALS. Staff were attentive but unobtrusive and the chef prepared yummy meals at your request, it was a novelty to see him gathering ingredients from the garden and the jungle. We would definitely come again to this luxury villa.

Suhada Villa's rooms were spotless and spacious with lovely seating areas. The opportunity to watch and photogragh birds was a welcome bonus, as was the excellent food and service. This property is one we shall try to visit again. Meanwhile thankyou everyone who contributed to our stay in paradise.

If you are looking for a beautiful setting. Good Food, cooked when you like and cooked how you like. A relaxing environment with pleasant staff. Look no further than the Suhada Villa. Its a fabulous place to stay. Just wished our one week had been two. The fruit at breakfast time is a real treat, along with the fresh Juice, dont miss it.

My best moment was swimming in the pool at dusk, with the pool lights on, listening to all the beautiful sounds. That memory will last me a life time.

Bentota is not too far away, if you need a Beach fix. Pay a couple of £ for a sun bed in the grounds of the Hotel there and enjoy the sea. Even the Beach sellers are delightful.

We stayed for 10 days at this fabulous villa - having read the other reviews I can fully aghree and highly recommend to other travellers looking for quality and value. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Suhada Villa. From the moment we arrived, everything was taken care of - we even had help with the children - most unexpected. The staff are excellent and they go that extra mile to ensure all guests have a memorable holiday. The review would not be finished without a mention about Chef and the wonderful food - what can we say - those King Prawns are the best ever !!!

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
