“Lovely hotel with hot swimming pool!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 14, 2013

We stayed here for 3 nights around Easter time, and were really pleased with the hotel. The hotel design is very over the top, but, its a bit like Vegas, tacky but done well. The rooms are comfortable, luxurious and clean, but not the best we have seen for a 5 star resort. The hotel is huge and the gardens are beautiful. The swimming pool (over 30 degrees) and 3 Jacuzzis (almost 40 degrees) were amazing, was so nice to swim up until midnight in the lit pool when the weather was so cold and rainy outside. The sauna by the pool was fantastic too, and they lend you fluffy bathrobes to dash between the changing rooms and pool area, everything was very well thought out. We spent most days out exploring Jeju island, then evenings relaxing in the hotel and in the pool.

The food in the Korean restaurant was lovely, we went for the tasting menu and there was so much food, all cooked to perfection, lovely local ingredients and flavours, really enjoyable. Great having the bakery in the lobby, nice to be able to take snacks for a day trip.

The staff were friendly and helpful and all trained very well.

But we had one negative experience. We asked the hotel to book us an English driver for the day, and the driver was appalling. He drove erratically, had no seat belts in the car, it was dirty and his English was so poor that we felt ripped off paying more for an 'English' guide! He asked us to pay for his lunch (even though it was supposed to be included in the day rate). Then drove slowly and swerved all over the place, meaning we had to pay an extra hour to cover the sights that we had planned. We were surprised that the hotel recommended this driver. At the end of the day, we mentioned to the hotel, and they dismissed it so we went to talk to concierge who apologised. We were not after an apology, but really wanted them to remove this driver from their list so that other guests do not have the same negative experience. So, make sure you AVOID this driver: Dai Bok Kim (011-692-3305)

Room Tip: Garden facing the waterfall so that you can see the show from your room

4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 22, 2013

Stayed here for 3 nights in April 2013, for a conference.

Room #856 had 2 double beds, large flat-screen TV, safe, coffee-making facilities, mini-bar, sofa, balcony overlooking pool area, desk area, free-wifi (reliable connection) and a good sized bathroom which had a bath AND separate cubicle shower. No iron in room which is the only criticism I have.

The hotel itself is large with some rather 'interesting' quirky features - windmills in the grounds, a volcano water show which includes a dinosaur (bizarre), horse and dolphin models, etc. There's an on-site shop AND a 'duty-free' shop too. I used the on-site gym on 2 occasions and it was well equipped. There is a pool next to the gym for guest use also.

There is a bar on site and a restaurant ('Pennisula' - an italian style restaurant). The food in the restaurant was excellent (well done to the staff!) but very expensive! Used the bar too - again very expensive with a 330ml bottle of Guiness costing around £12! Yes, £12! (I made it last!)

The hotel grounds are well maintained. There is an outdoor pool with a kids-area and whirlpool areas too. A bar is also situated next to the pool. The hotel is well-lit at night and makes the grounds and hotel look really nice. You can walk down to the beach from the hotel through the grounds - there are a number of stairs to tackle however, so it's not for the faint-hearted!

There is a "Louis Vuitton" on-site, although I never saw a soul in there everytime I passed!

There is a business/prestige lounge, which has sofas, TV, etc - but it appeared a bit bleak or cold so was not used as far as I could tell.

Negotiating the hotel map and corridors took a while to get used to - the lobby is on floor 8 and the pool area on floor 1. You can only use the lifts in the lobby area to get to floor 1, which is a but of a nuisance.

The staff in the hotel were all very professional, courteous and helpful - so well done and thank you to the hotel team.

Overall a good hotel - for business or pleasure - and I would recommend if you stay on Jeju Island.

To summarise:

+ Room excellent, well maintained
+ Very clean, maintained hotel
+ Excellent staff
+ Decent gym and pool
+ Food excellent in the 'Pennisula' restaurant

- No iron / ironing board in room
- Expensive bar and food (beware!)
- Quirky / random decor / features make the hotel feel a little tacky in some areas.

This is a fabulous hotel. We stayed on the 11th floor overlooking the outdoor swimming pool. The view could not have been better. From our balcony, we could watch the volcano show, which is interesting. It is a 10 minute show with lasers and few pyrotechnics followed by a couple of dragons that pop out of the water. As part of the show, they offer a buffet for ~$85 a person. The buffet is very good with both Korean and some international foods.

The staff is very courteous and the amentias are great. In the bathroom, they had extra toothbrushes, comb, razor, and other travel essentials.

The grounds of the hotel are meticulous kept. Someone was always cleaning some part of the hotel. The hotel has three restaurants, a small deli and a bar; unfortunately, we only had a chance to eat at one of the restaurants, the Italian. It was very good.

The only issue we had was that they had not turned on the air conditioning for the season; therefore, being on the 11th floor, our room stayed around 25 to 28C, making sleeping difficult. We ended up sleeping with the sliding door open, which helped. We talked to the front desk several times about the issue when we first arrived; however, I do not believe they understood the issue. We finally talked to someone in maintenance, and they told us about the problem. They were supposed to bring a fan, but it was never delivered.

In summary, if I had the chance I would differently stay here again.

Room Tip: Again, the higher floors offer a great view, but they tend to be hotter.

Had a short 2 night stay with my husband here while touring Korea. The hotel itself is grand, public areas and gardens, as well as the rooms, are beautiful and opulent looking. We had a small balcony overlooking the pool area which was nice to sit out on, though weather bit chilly. Staff and service excellent. Costs 10,000 won to use the indoor pool and spa (similar to a Japanese onsen, that is, no clothes). The usual onsen "rules" apply, so you need to shower thoroughly before using the spa. There is also a sauna in the spa area, really enjoyed the spa experience. There is one indoor pool for men and women (so you wear your swimming costume here), and then there are separate male and female spa areas. They even have a small machine to spin dry your cozzie while you are using the spa. The spa attendant did not speak much English but we managed our communication, with some sign language and plenty of smiles. Breakfast great, loved the abalone rice porridge and French toast (not together!). Our only regret is not having alot of time to enjoy the hotel and its immediate surroundings, as our limited time on Jeju Island meant we were out and about most of the time we were there. Oh well, means we have to visit again sometime!

This hotel is amazing. Considering it is #1 on the Jeju Island my mom and I decided to check in here. The moment we walked in the bellman were very attentive and the hostess was very helpful. Infact she decided to upgrade my mom and I to a higher room with two FREE breakfest buffet passes. The dinner buffet which included a wide variety of food was pricey ($80 CDN) but absoutely amazing. The breakfast buffet was also very delicious. If you have a chance go check out the orange juice its yummy! Another great feature was the ammenities. The hotel connects right to the beach which was beautiful and the scenery out back was interesting! I will definately be coming back as it was an amazing experience.

The hotel looks magnificent from the outside, very opulent. Upon arrival the staff were so friendly and accommodating. It was very impressive. The facilities were excellent. The room was very spacious with lovely views although the decor (I prefer ultra modern) was not to my personal taste. Great quality toiletries. I would definitely stay here again.

Check-in and -out smooth.
Western-style breakfast is disappointing, but the Japanese-style is very good.
My room was well laid out and comfortable. However the internet connection was slow.
Did not have a chance to use the facilities, but the outdoor swimming pool could be used was heated, eve and undern though it was winter.
They have an exciting fire/volcano show, but it is not suitable for children 5 - too scary.
all in all, a pleasant stay.
