We ordered the bibimbap, which is made from garden fresh greens. It comes with tons of filling banchan and doenjang jjigae.
The owner spoke excellent English and took the time to explain each dish to us.
The dongdongju was delicious, though a half size is more than enough for two people.

This restaurant was recommended by the Michelin green guide to South Korea, and also by the Visit Korea website.
The menu is really simple to negotiate - bibimbap is the main dish here and it comes with doenjang jiggae (beanpaste stew with tofu) and lots of banchan (side dishes).

To drink we had dongdongju which is an unfiltered rice wine similar to makgeolli. To the uninitiated, the best description I can give is that it has the dryness of a riesling from Alsace with the slight sweetness of a gewurtraminer. My daughter said the smell reminded her of fermented banana.

The food was all lovely and the service even more so. The lady who took our order and served the dishes was very keen to show us how to mix the rice into the vegetables along with the sauces. I think if I hadn't been there, she would have tried to feed the children. Apparently it is a Korean trait to want to feed people which is something I really appreciate and approve of.

Our first ever foray into bibimbap was through Bibigo in London (see separate review) so we're big fans. This dinner gave us a new insight into it, with the provision of fresh herbs and shoots in the rice, the accompanying tofu stew, and the many different banchan alongside.

If you are with friends or family, please try the pajeon which was really good too.
