We stayed for one night off season, therefore were able to get a room facing the lake - quite beautiful to watch the sunrise. Unlike the previous people who commented on the location, we had no problems with the temperature control of the room. The lobby was going through a few renovations, however nothing that would disturb anyone's stay.

The breakfast buffet was included in our package, and it was the absolute best breakfast buffet I have had anywhere! Very good mix of Western and Asian cuisine, and they were even kind enough to cook a separate omelet without pork for us (once we got over the language barrier).

The grounds are very pretty, and I could only imagine how nice it must be when it is in full season. The one downside is that they had the karaoke going and we could hear it all the way up; it was background noise, but not enough to keep us up.

In regards to shampoo and conditioner, I noticed that they are not a standard amenity in Korea; you can bring your own or purchase the ones they have on sale through the extras. They have a whole bunch of facial lotions that I did not know what to do with. No other problems with the room (very clean and new), or staff (quiet, kept to themselves probably because we were the only foreigners for the night).

Would stay there again without a second thought.

We stayed at this hotel in October 2008 for one night, on our tour through Korea. It was kind of a spontanious decision, since we heared that there were some five-star hotels around the lake, and here we got the best price. It was off-season and there are always some good deals.

Unfortunately, it should really be counted as a five star hotel. The rooms have no own aircondition, which makes the rooms quite hot (even in the fall), but we were able to open the window. That was double good, since all rooms are smoker rooms, and there was a disgusting smell in the air. I got such bad headache from the night there.......

The little shampoos, you always get in the bathrooms were used already. It seemed like the maid didn't put in new ones after the last guest (I actually saw that quite often in Korea).
Ordering breakfast wasn't as easy as we hoped, since the people at the reception don't really speak english.
But after all we got some "american breakfast", which we could't eat, because it was simply too disgusting.

I don't think I would come back to this location, only if there was really no other option.

This hotel looks like it has been a grand hotel once. It's a big hotel with some similarities of a luxury hotel. It still looks good. The lobby area, coffee/bar is in good shape. The hotel is beautifully located by the lake and we stayed here during the cherry blossom season. So beautiful! It is lovely to walk along the lake.

The room was a little outdated with carpet on the floor. The bathroom was good. It's an old hotel and that shows in the hallways and the rooms.

The receptionists were very helpful and when my mom got ill they found a doctor and ordered a taxi. Not sure if they speak english though since my wife is korean and she fixed everything.

If you can find a good price I would recommend staying here, but don't expect 5 star even though it can look like it when you approach the hotel.

By reading reviews by others from various web sites, I knew somewhat about this place and got comfortable before I reserve a room. However, I made a big mistake ignoring one of the reviews saying that the room does not get cool (I thought it was an isolated case.). WOW, I could not believe a five star hotel with a very reputable name in the area presets a room temp. to 24 degree Celsius (75.2 Fahrenheit). In late June, outside temp was high 80s and low 90s, and very muggy. I was miserable and felt very sorry to my two young ones and my wife. Everything else was fine, sort of. Especially, I loved their breakfast buffet, food was so good and the service was excellent (but very pricey just like any other things in any other high end hotels). Carpet must have been a very expensive and beautiful one originally, but very old now and dirty, which did not bother us too much, because we carry our own indoor slippers always for that reason. In short, it is a good hotel for the money, but I will not stay in this hotel again, for the fact that I was so uncomfortable and miserable due from the room temp. issue. I go out on family trips very often and I refuse to be uncomfortable during the trips. My family trip to GyungJoo was so good and enjoyable even with the hot and muggy weather, except I was miserable while I was in the hotel room. I still can not believe the hotel presets the room temperature to make a very few extra bucks.
