“A good hotel with scenic walking possibilities”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 26, 2011

Unlike other Korean hotels, this one did not have free water. There was no cofffee pot in the room, either. Tried to communicate with the desk by phone and in person about wanting hot water. No luck. Went to nearby convenience store to buy water. Upon return, found free bottled water dispenser of hot and cold water in the hall. Nice restaurant, free internet and hotel staff tried to be helpful but their English was very limited.

Pros: 1) The hotel is located by a lake.

Cons: 1) The rooms are worn down and dirty looking. 2) It's a bit far from the city center. Not too easy to go back and forth from the hotel during the day.

We recently stayed in the Gyeongju, Korea Hotel . We found the room airconditioning wasn't working in our room, so we changed rooms. Again, the A/C wasn't working in that room, and changed rooms again. Finally we found a room that was cooler. The hotel Customer Service is very good, as they accommodated our needs. If the hotel was full, they wouldn't have been able to accommodate our needs. However, I left an item in the room, and tried to call the hotel. No numbers are available. Our only option is to contact customer service. I wrote customer service an e-mail letter. Their reply was to read the F.A.Q. section of their website. The FAQ area has no comments on "lost items". Overall, the hotel is good, but cistomer service is very very POOR !

Stepping into this hotel was like going back in time. There's no better way of describing this hotel than to ask you to think of the hotel from 'The Shining'. This hotel looks like it hasn't been touched since the 70s.

It must have been very grand back in its hey-day, but now it looks badly dated, and everything from the phones to the TVs to the hairdryers were incredibly old and outdated, to the point of looking dangerous to use in some cases.Maintenance has clearly been neglected and the cupboards and doors had handles and hinges missing. The decor was screamingly bad, even for the 70s.

Forget about wifi in your room - your only hope of getting connected to the internet is the pathetically poor 'business centre' on the ground floor, which consists of one photocopier and one ancient virus-infested PC.

My visit was during the off-season, but even so the hotel was scarily deserted. Nevertheless despite being the only person in the huge dining hall, I had to wait for ages to be served and for the food (which was awful) to arrive. Service from everyone, from reception to the waiters, was sullen and surly, as if I was putting them out by having the temerity to turn up and ruin their hopes of a quiet day with no guests to bother them.

Would never stay again. Only good point was the brilliant view out on to the lake, but there are many other hotels in the area which offer the same. But it was an experience at least - you could never call this hotel mediocre or boring, it's bad in a laughably extreme way.

"Our room was very outdated and badly needed to be renovated. Our room wasn't very clean either. The carpets were stained and the shower curtains were very dirty. The curtains in the room weren't wide enough and you couldn't close them completely. A good thing about the room was that it did have a balcony with a nice view of the lake. The water was also very soft because they were using water from an underground hot spring. Some of the staff were friendly and some were not. I found the nicest people to be the housekeeping staff. The people at the front desk didn't talk much to us when we checked in or out. Not in Korean or English! They didn't bother to tell us any information about the hotel. For example, the services they provide, swimming pool hours or restaurant hours. "

Taking the cost, service and amenities into consideration, this was my favorite of the three hotels we stayed at during a recent road trip through southeastern part of south Korea. Although the building felt old and worn down and could use some upgrading, that was easily forgotten when a room with four single beds cost under $100.
The location was excellent, on the shore of the big lake in Bomun Resort district.
The staff were very professional and friendly; they were obviously experienced in catering to tourists from abroad. I liked how the hotel paid more attention to the basics like clean sheets instead of fancy lobby and exterior which often wasn't the case with Korean hotels unless you stay at the super deluxe class hotels.
Another aspect of the stay at Concorde I really liked was the water. The hotel has its own natural hot spring from which it feeds all guest rooms and the guest spa. My skin never felt so soft after a shower.

The only reason I'm not giving it the "Excellent" rating is because I found a silverfish-like bug on the bathroom wall.

This hotel is advertised everywhere as being in the super deluxe category - it is not in this category at all - the hotel is completely run down, and there are many other hotels in the area that are much better. The service is terrible - there is no service. We had someone ring our room a few times wanting to know exactly what time we were checking out as he was the bellboy apparently and wanted to give us some card, but he rang very late at night and the request made no sense - we never saw him the next day. The hotel provided no assistance with getting a taxi, with tourist information etc. The rooms smelt and were not good. The rooms were not clean - there was dirt etc on the walls - no attention was paid to detail. The hotel was like a ghost town - huge but empty - the food at the Korean restaurant was not good at all. Would not recommend this hotel - just book when you get to the town - there are plenty of other options in the area.
