“Pleasant 2 day visit to historic Gyeongju”
Reviewed May 4, 2014

Gyeongju is a nice little town with offers a lot to its visitors. The landmarks include the Tumuli Park, with green hills used as tombs for ancient kings, the Gyeongju National Park, with its UNESCO Heritage sites, and the Namsan park, excellent for hikes and nature walks. Minimum stay: 1 night, but possibly a little longer for taking better advange of the area.

“Not much to see”
Reviewed April 30, 2014

The historical area is next to down town. The is a park rather than then historical area. I was a little bit disappointed.

“Great place to enjoy the outdoors and learn a bit of Korean history.”
Reviewed April 22, 2014

I went here late in the spring. The weather was great. I recommend hiring some bikes to check out the sites. It's loads of fun and you don't have to fight the traffic and find a car space. The historic area is quite flat which makes riding on the wide pathways a breeze. Depending on what hotel you stay at, they may even have bikes you can use for free :)

If visiting please remember that the large mounds are tombs and not to be climbed. Be respectful and stay off them, even if you see Korean locals climbing them.

Lots of pictures and more info on my blog http://gdaykorea.blogspot.com.au/2013/05/gyeongju-city-packed-with-history.html

“A must See”
Reviewed March 10, 2014

We spent two nights here and wished we had longer. It rained and snowed while we were here but it didn't matter. If you like the outdoors this is the place to go. We stayed at the N Hotel, couldn't find it anywhere on Trip advisor, use Agoda.com, much better than hotels.com. Good price, clean and our room overlooked the mounds. Its a love hotel but we had no problems and we would stay there again.

The first afternoon we walked around and visited the Flying Horse Tomb, if you go do eat at Hanami Gyeongju Tonkasu Restaurant, its Japanese and some of the best food we had in Korea. The next day there was a light sprinkling of snow, we bundled up and rented bikes, and had a blast riding all over. They light up the area near the Cheomsongdae, very pretty. The last day we took a cab out to Namsan and hiked up the mountain. It was snowing off and on and just beautiful. We saw many buddhas on the path and secondary paths. Wish we had had more time to explode the area, it was wonderful.

“Extraordinary!”
Reviewed February 16, 2014

We read a description before we arrived calling Gyeongju a museum without walls and having visited we agree. The whole area is incredible and the tumuli are amazing. You can spend a whole day just wandering around from site to site and you won't be disappointed.
