“Great location next to the lake”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 3, 2012

Stayed here for 2 nights, took bus 700 from the KTX train station. We were upgraded to a lake front room w/balcony which had been remodeled. It was very comfortable, however the new bathrooms are still a bit small. The view of the lake is lovely. While we were there they were re-painting the outside so its good to see they are maintaining the property. Its right next to a museum and the walk around the lake is quite nice. The breakfast downstairs is alright with selections of different regions (chinese, japanese, american, english). The staff is very friendly and helpful and we didn't have any trouble with communicating in English. Would recommend this hotel as its location is a bit far from the other sites, but its quieter and in a nicer community.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the lake.

Stayed here a couple of nights. Upgraded to lake view room with balcony.

Great:
Room
Breakfast
View
Service
English spoken by staff
Near to local tourist restaurants
Close to bike hire

Only downside is that the lobby and bar were deserted. And food and drink in lobby bar were quite expensive

Overall this is a good hotel even if the view from some rooms is poor. I cannot complain as it was a last minute booking on a busy weekend. The buffet breakfast was excellent and the view over the gardens to the lake was very pleasant. The staff were very helpful and friendly. This is a good base for exploring a fascinating part of Korea even if the main cultural attractions are a little removed from the hotel. The surrounding area is somewhat Disney but this may suit families with young kids.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a good view of the lake.

This hotel is small, so it offers quietness. The buffet restaurant is quite good, with Korean and western style food offers. The italian restaurant is very good for that special couples' dinner, good quality service and ambience.
The sauna is very good, high quality water in a very clean environment. There is a hot tub outside, very interesting for enjoying during winter time, as it is rather cold outside, but warm when bathing in it!.
There are good indoor and outdoor swimming pools and very good squash and tennis courts.
The bar and karaoke rooms at the top floor are very pleasant and stylish, for an enjoyable nighttime experience.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the lake have nice open wide balcony with table and chairs!

We did not stay at this hotel so can't comment on the rooms. But we really enjoyed the dinner buffet. There were four of us plus a small baby, and we particularly asked for a corner table so the baby can be looked after and fed. There was no problem with that at all.

The restaurant manager and staff were very friendly and professional, they will bend over backwards to offer their help. The food was marvellous and professionally cooked.

There were quite a lot of beef dishes and specialites like Lychee with duck breast which is a lovely surprise. The beef tendon with jinseng was just nicely done , not overcooked and not too strong/salty either.

The price is on the high side in Korea - about £45 each (adult) incl service charge etc. but we think it was definitely worth it.

The rooms are where this hotel falls short. Interior seems 20 years old, not so clean, especially the bathroom mold. The "lakeview rooms" apparently view a noisy Gyeongju World amusement park and a dried up pond. Really, really falls short of expectations.

Friendly place, staff could improve it's English yet no real barriers in communication.
Very attentive concierge . BF is reasonable , sitting by the window makes it charming.
New KTX station ( from Seoul / Busan ) , 30 minutes by taxi , price is reasonable too ( about US$24 ). Regular buses stop near by, take number 10 , will bring you around close to main Historic sites ( about one dollar a ride ). Although bus driver do not speak the language , maps will do. Not to miss the MISO II show ( shuttles, free from hotel , 5 minutes ride to theater with fantastic sound ) This show introducing one of Korea's iconic queen Shilla., in an interesting modern staging , combining tradition with modern touch, is offered to hotel guests ( 30% off for about US$25 per person )
Hotel interior deserves some brushing , especially the rugs at the lobby
Rooms , facing the lake , are roomy an well illuminated yet its time to clean up the out side windows.
TV can be beefed up with some movie channels for those who prefer to laze in the room from time to time.
Food at the lobby lounge OK yet nothing to write home about .
We have used the hotel as a home base for touring, those who intend to visit the place and enjoy the season, may prefer an earlier stay ( Cherry blossom )
Pool and facilities were NOT operational ( empty ) during our stay , although weather was suitable for a dip, I wonder why ?

Room Tip: High Floor , facing the lake
