“Pleasant hotel, convenient location”
Reviewed October 5, 2011

Small lifts and crampy room. Room was ordinary but was kept clean and tidy. Toilet seat is fitted with a warmer. A plus for cold weather.

Nice seaview from the room I stayed in.

Convenience store just beside the hotel. Located diagonally across you'll find a shopping mall that has almost about everything you'll need. Pharmacy near by and located beside a street that is lined up with eateries of all sorts.. Go further round the bend and you'll find stores that sells mountain climbing equipment.

We chose this hotel for our first night on Jeju because we arrived late and wanted something close to the airport. I would give it high marks for (a) being convenient by taxi, (b) the common areas such as the lobby being attractive and well-maintained, and (c) being steps away from the waterfront promenade, which is a nice place to walk along the seawall to the harbor. These strengths are significantly impacted by (a) the merely adequate sleeping room that was too warm (thermostat didn't seem to work) and the rather run-down decor and (b) a really awful breakfast buffet, for which we had to pay extra.

This hotel was average to low budget in my opinion. Much of the resources and money is on the other side of the island, which is opulent and much more populated. I tried hard to find good and actually the staff were very nice to me and my daughter. In fact, they were nice enough to forward some items we left in our room. This doesn't negate the hotel needs a make over. The rooms were stale and the console were evidence of the first transition of the digital age. They are built-in push button consoles on the nightstand. It reeks of stale cigarettes. Of the three nights we stayed, the casino was so poorly populated, I was reluctant to play. The Ramada across the street had more amenities but the casino was unpopulated as well. The hotel doesn't provide a shuttle to the airport. My daughter and I spent so much money traveling to tourist sites on our own.

Jeju Oriental is touted as a 5-star hotel in the Korean context but there is nothing 5-star about it. The room was fairly comfortable but very worn, the bedroom slippers looked grubby and the toilet was simply not acceptable for a hotel of its claimed standard. The sink was yellowed, the bathtub was stained, the walls were cracked...and the showerhead had what looked like mould on it. Don't mar your Jeju experience by staying in this hotel (Jeju is such a beautiful island) and check in at Ramada across the street instead or Ocean Suites. Both of them look much newer and are right by the beach. Perhaps the only gd thing abt Jeju Oriental was its comfortable bed.

Stayed here for 2 nights earlier this month. Hotel was old but rooms were fairly spacious. As with the old exterior, interior decoration was dismal, with stained bathroom table tops and dusty lamps a common sight amongst all the rooms used by the travellers in our group.

According to the website of the hotel it has facilities like a casino and a bowling alley. Unfortunately the bowling alley has been closed down---or perhaps under renovation--not too sure which because we had trouble understanding the hotel staff's explanation. Casino is still in operation, but on a very very small scale, with only 1 roulette table and 1 blackjack table in operation on both nights we were there. Staff were also rude and surly. On the contrary, the staff in the lobby lounge were relatively more polite, as were those in the coffee house.

Cannot comment on the location of the hotel though, we had transportation arranged. If all that you need are the bare essentials, then I do suppose this hotel will do.
