A decent resort consisting of several blocks of guest room and depending on which room you are assigned the distance can be near or far away from the main lobby. The rooms are clean and all amenities are very standard and besides the tiny towel and hair dryer you will need to supply your own body wash and shampoo. No frills resort! But they do have a very good selection for buffet breakfast and being a mountainous area you get very very fresh air.

The rooms are spacious, with 2 bedrooms, living room & pantry. There is a stove & complete set of utensils. The decor in the room is rather dated as the floor finish is made on linoleum instead of timber strip flooring. The towels are too small & no toiletries provided.

Hanwha Resort Hotel, Jeju Island

It is resort hotel with near 400 rooms, situated on a small hill top in the middle of the Island. By international standard, Hanwha should be considered a 5 stars hotel, which provides such facilities as indoor and outdoor swimming pools, sauna, even 3 or 4 dining rooms. But the bathrooms in guest rooms are not luxuriously equipped. It may be a Korean tradition that each guest is provided nothing more than a towel each, as we were told in advance to bring our own tooth brush or (cake of) soap.

Another Korean custom or tradition that has been introduced in many reputable hotels, including Hanwha, is that the floor of the room is not carpeted. Instead, a raised wooden floor or platform of roughly 6 and 9 inches high is constructed covering the entire room, except an area of roughly 5 to 6 feet square at the entrance. Guests are expected to take off their shoes at this sunken area of the floor, and walk up the room within bare footed.

In winter, a room is not just kept warm and comfortable by the wall air-conditioning system; the raised floor of certain part of a guest room is also heated.

Resort with 2 bedrooms. 1 room with bed and 1 empty room for the tatami. There is a small supermarket in the resort. Pricing wise is a bit on the high side. Wifi signal only at lobby and not very good.

We stayed in this resort on group tour over Christmas time, it's quite full, but not chaotic. The resort is situated near the foot of Mount Hannah (Tallest mountain in South Korea), it snows a lot which created a beautiful surrounding. I was told the resort belongs to one of the top ten corporations of South Korea, and has been at east 25 years old, but still nicely maintained.

The rooms are spacious, efficiently heated in winter, with 2 bed rooms, one western with bed, the other one is for sleeping on the floor Korean style. A kitchenette equipped with cooking utensils (pots and pans, knifes and cutlery) to cater for up to four people. A heat ring cooker and an electric rice cooker are provided. Notice though, no microwave is provided! You may purchase food at the mini mart within the resort, which is reasonably priced, and open until midnight. Other than that, there are 2 restaurants which serve good Korean style food.

Bathroom is well maintained, with good hot water system running all time of the day. However, like most hotels in Korea, toiletry items are not provided, so you must bring your own. However, they do provide towels (the small Korean style one), a small bar of soup and toilet paper. There is no shower curtain, so taking a shower can make the whole toilet a bit wet. The bathroom is dimly lit with just one bulb.

Breakfast is served on the 2nd floor, with a fairly good elections of both Western and Korean style. It is basically self served. The only thing that let this resort down is the lack of internet. It only has free wifi access at the lobby, plus a coin-operated pay-by-minute internet computer at the internet room. There is absolutely no LAN or wifi in the room, which makes it painful to have to come down to the lobby to access one's emails.

Worth mentioning is the spa which makes this resort a popular choice amongst Korean tourists. The treatment is interesting and reasonably priced. It is one of the must-do when staying here. Hotel guests get special discount and priority booking.

Overall, my two nights stay was pleasant, it was so quiet at night, the sleep quality I got was good.
