“A must see”

This was my first visit to a lava tube or cave. It was a great little walk through a dark and amazing cave.

“Pretty boring.”
Reviewed July 2, 2012

If you've been in a real cave, you'll only be downgrading if you go to this lava tube. It is a plane tube with lots of lights. There is no cool dark places, and the only formation at the end is meh. I prefer a normal cave with formations and a tour in which everyone turns of the lights ^^.

“Quite magnificent to walk in something created by lava”
Reviewed June 24, 2012

We did a day trip covering Sunrise Peak and the Manjanggul Lava Tubes. It was a long drive though from the south. It was quite interesting to experience the vastness inside these tubes, imagining all these form by lava thousands of years ago. It was dark indeed and photography or videoing seemed very difficult. It was cool and moist, dark of course, not suitable for those in dress shoes or high heels. Be prepared to come along with proper walking shoes with good grip and some areas are wet. Not a suitable site for family with young children. The end of the walk was a constructed steel walkway to see the "turtle". Not something to wow at, but just knowing that , that is the farthest you can go. Being a tourist attraction, food was easily availble.

“Interesting natural formation”
Reviewed June 8, 2012

It is dark inside so you need a good camera if you are planning to take some pictures. It is also cold so you might want to wear more layers of clothing. Through the tube, there are signboards that explain certain geological formations and structures (in several languages). Around 2km of the tube is opened for visitors and at the end, there is a lava column that is well lit for photo opportunity.

Becareful inside as it is slippery, cold and a bit dark despite the lamps at an interval from each other.
