The setting of this beach really is beautiful with the rocks spreading into the water, hills behind and the long arc of sand. It is especially beautiful in the evenings around sunset. It is a busy urban beach with lots of umbrellas everywhere during the day, but it was less crowded than I had expected given some of the other reviews, and the umbrellas were appreciated in the heat. I found it quite pleasant and relaxing even though I am not usually an urban beach person. I think you have to take it for what it is. They are cautious about when and where they allow swimming though and the life guards do enforce strongly, as others have noted.
