If you like fresh seafood, cooked in local korean style, this is a must go place. Walking distance from Nampo or Jagalchi subway stations, there is a stretch of street selling dried and fresh seafood. Inside Jagalchi market ground floor are fresh seafood stalls. Choose and negotiate for the best price, let the owner know how you want the seafood to be cooked, he/she then informs another liaison person of the stall at level 2. Proceed to level 2 to wait for the scrumptious meal. We were lucky to meet to meet a mandarin speaking owner.

Visited the Jagalchi Market and first of all was impressed that I wasn't knocked over by the smell of fish because the fish are very fresh! My husband and I looked at all the wonderful kinds of sea life (not everything was a fish) then we stopped at one of the many restaurants in the market and had the most delicious fresh Snapper that was moist to the bone, Seriously! I felt like a cat in a cartoon that puts the fish in his mouth and pulls out the fish skeleton. Sorry I didn't get the restaurants' name but I have pictures. I would recommend the market as a "MUST DO" on your list of experiences while in Busan especially if you have children it's very educational. Oh and the ocean side view of the market is truly remarkable you gotta see it!

If you like your seafood than this is the place to come. It is Korea's largest seafood market with a fleet of robust fishing boats delivering the latest catch directly to the stalls day & night. Such is the massive variety of fresh seafood that it can be a little daunting figuring out where to begin. There are two market buildings - one open-air, the other a modest indoor hall; both are packed with small businesses mostly specialising in one culinary offering.selling the region's salty harvest.

The alleys and aisles of the Jagalchi Fish Market are packed with stalls selling an astounding array of edible creatures from the deep blue. Every flat surface supports stacks of fresh fish - in a myriad of shapes & sizes- with colourful plastic baskets arranged to display crabs, pippies and other shy critters hiding in shells.

People come from around the region to buy seafood; restaurant chefs dash in to secure ingredients, housewives make a daily pilgrimage for something to feed the family, and those who don't like to cook or who are tourists like us, can perch on stools in front of some shops while a chef prepares your choice for you.

Jagalchi Fish Market is open from 8am to 10pm seven days a week, only closing on the last Tuesday of the month, and visitors can ride the Busan Subway's Line 1 to Jagalchi Station and walk the handful of blocks to the complex beside the pier.

If you're a seafood lover, you shouldn't miss Jagalchi Market. It's a seafood heaven!

There is an open-air market and an indoor market. Both sell seafood of many variety. For the indoor market, you can buy the seafood and bring to the restaurant at the first floor to have them cook it for you. In the first floor too, there is many shops selling dried seafood. You can buy them for souvenir.

I don't know about the price of the live/raw fish, but the fish in the restaurants on the second floor and at the buffet on the seventh floor are both much more expensive than the shops directly across the street. I would visit the market just to see it, however, before you purchase a meal, it will likely save your pocketbook to shop around.
