Toyoko Inn Busan Station No.1
Ranked #28 of 187 Hotels in Busan
Reviewed August 25, 2011

Busan is Korea number 2 city, after Seoul. It is a famous Port city and heartbeat of the Korean economy.
I was in Busan for 2 days for business and my Korean colleague booked me into this Toyoko Inn. I stayed at Toyoko Inn when i was in Japan, thus i was not too worried. This budget hotel near the Busan KTX railway did not disappoint. It has a small cozy room for 1 pax and very clean. Bed was slightly firm and came with only 1 pillow. Check-in was fast and at the counter, you can get free soap and facial wash.
The room comes with free internet and PJs and toilet was small but practical. This is a budget hotel so dont expect fancy decor but everything works. Breakfast is typical Korean fare and coffee. Ground floor has free Ice machine and washing machines at the back
Overall, a good stay for me and if i am ever in Busan, will stay here again

I love the Toyoko Inn chain for their consistency and their free breakfasts. I hate waking up and not knowing where my first meal will come from. This location was stellar. The bus dropped us off at Busan Station and we could see the hotel, rising very tall, beside the station. The area is rather run, there is a Chinatown and a seedy brothel section across the street. Of course, this can all be easily avoided. The hotel itself was clean and newish. We had an upper floor room which offered a fantastic view. The desk staff were extremely helpful and friendly with functional English, which is often rare in Korea. Thre breakfast was served on the second floor and was very crowded, with a slow moving line-up.

One note about Busan: At first meeting, the people of Busan seem abrupt and a little bit crusty. They're not rude, it's just the way they talk and it becomes charming after a little while. So don't be afraid, just have fun.

It's pretty small, but I'm like 5 feet flat so it was ok for me. The layout was efficient so that you could keep your suitcase under the bed, and hang your clothes at the foot of your bed on a wall hanger. There was also a comfortable side table for computer work or dressing/makeup usage. Very clean and had everything you need, no extras that you never use like mini sewing kits, but that's fine. Great price for it's location. Just next to the train station and pretty easy to get to. I got a room on the 15th floor facing the station, and my view was pretty cool. They have those super hard Asian beds though, which some people will probably dislike (I don't - it's good for the back). Breakfast was probably below average, simple toast and butter and a selection of kimchi with porridge type things. The coffee/tea hybrid was really odd, but I drank it anyway.

All in all I think for it's price, location and room, this is a great value hotel!

Room Tip: High floors = good views, but long waits for lift!

We stayed at Toyoko Inn for one night after getting off the ferry from Fukuoka. A super clean room with everything that you need, the room might not be big but it has uses the space well. Rate included free breakfast and there are free computers to use in the lobby. There is also a coin laundry handy for washing your clothes. Check-in isn't until 4pm but you can leave your bags. Nice and close to the subway, as well the KTX station - great if you're heading up to Seoul.

The location is great. Just a stone's throw away from the Busan station of KTX.

Our room was a very small one, but very clean. The bathroom is also very small but has a tub. I liked that the bowl had seat temperature controls and washers.

I love their lightweight robes. Sometimes thick robes are too heavy for me.

City tour buses are parked right outside so it's really very convenient.

My sister and I decided to go on a blinded back packing trip from Busan, Korea back up to Seoul, Korea. We took the KTX train down to Busan with no plans and once we arrived we tried to find a hotel. Right outside the Busan stop we saw the Toyoko-Inn Hotel. The hotel is literally about 20 meters to the left of the exit of the train station. At first glance I assumed it was way too pricey to stay but found out that the prices were actually pretty reasonable. Also have in mind that everyone is use to their own differences so I've tried to be very descriptive about the hotel and not too much about whats outside the hotel.

Pros:
1. the price for a 2 twin beds was 85,000 won and for a 1 double bed was 75,000 which is very reasonable for a place to stay so close to a large station.
2. the morning breakfast was pretty decent. Rice, soup, sides, coffee, milk, toast, yogurt, small hotdogs, and even mini omelets.
3. 3 elevators so you dont have to wait too long
4. fairly new building, new rooms, clean
5. close to water and very close to KTX and Busan subway station
6. 110 v and 220v outlets for people who forgot converters.
7. a lot of channels, new a/c, in room safe, working blow dryer, bible & Buddhist book :), slippers and they even give you PJs, and small fridge, smoking and non smoking rooms.
8. plug in ethernet cable and connection free

Cons:
1. hallways a bit on the hot side
2. not too much to do in the area at night unless you enjoy hostess bars and clubs
3. only 2 bottle water in fridge
4. bathroom and room itself is on the smaller side. i got 2 twin beds and the beds were literally a foot apart. the bathroom reminded me of an airplane bathroom.
5. hard beds, i'm use to hard beds but I know many people are not so be warned.
6. during summer, mosquitos will get you so either go to the local store and buy the plug in bug repellent or download an app. iphone has an app for that :P
7. check out is a bit early, 10AM

So overall, it was a very decent place to stay for the night. If you are a backpacker then you will be very happy with this stay. If you usually stay at the Ritz then you might be disappointed by the rooms being a tad smaller. There are a lot of cheaper options in the area, my sister and I found out by walking around, but came to the conclusion for the cleanliness, amenities, and value, we were very satisfied with our decision.

PS will load pictures once back in Seoul
