We were there for a company holiday party. The salad was fine although I felt it was in poor taste to be throwing a scoop of dressing on everyone's salads right in front of us. My husband and I each ordered the steak option for our dinner. Our steaks were severely under cooked. We returned it asked to have it cooked medium well. My husband's was better, mine wasn't even touched, it was still very rare and bloody and sides were cold. The waitstaff did nothing to remedy the situation. They did ask if I would like to take home my leftovers. The drinks were very expensive as well.

Decided to stay at the hotel for dinner and there was seating available in the Simpson dining room. Since part of the dinner was to discuss business we never felt rushed to eat. Dinner was served and the waiter stopped by several times to see if there was anything else he could do for us. He went the extra step.

The atmosphere was relaxed elegance. I started with an alluring spiced pear martini which was delightful. The calamari scampi combined crispy pieces of tender squid with a tantalizing garlic butter and wine reduction.
The sea scallops were accompanied with tasty carrots and rice . Overall I can give the meal 5 stars and would readily return for more

DInner and breakfast at Simpson's Tavern were superbly prepared, provided by outstanding servers in an atmosphere of 18th century simplicity and elegance.

It is really probably 3+. Service was excellent. If you think veggies will be the healthy choice, you should ask for no butter because they use a ton here. The asparagus was perfectly cooked but drenched in butter. The steak was good as we'll, but lots of butter and salt. This is not a bad thing, but be prepared. The roast chicken was dry. The gravy was floury and overly herb flavored. The stuffing was good.

The setting is retro, a little worn and the carpet was really really old. Kind of a "strollers and walkers" place. Not bad, but not great.
