Everyone who participated in the event stated that their rooms were amazing. I only had one problem in my room. The frig wasn't working but upon letting the front desk know it was fixed immediately. Great place to stay in Albany NY

The Hilton Garden Inn is a really nice cozy hotel for staying near the colleges, Sage, Albany State Law School, and the Albany Medical Center. The rooms are clean and well kept and we truly appreciated that after a long trip upstate. I must caution that mattresses aren't as comfortable as I like and when I complained, I was offered another room. The gym is rather small, but has two treadmills and an elipitical that provided a great workout. The breakfast buffet and service was very good and the price was reasonable ($10.99 plus tax). Starbucks is on the first floor with CVS and Panera across the street on the next block. Since I have to visit for my residency every so often, I find it a very nice place to stay. There is a free shuttle from the Amtrak train station and the driver Eric was very polite and helpful. Tiara was also helpful in resolving my concerns about the bed. I will stay there again soon. This is why I like being a Hilton Honors member, it just works for me.

Room Tip: Check the mattress upon arrival. Excellent stay for visiting the college campuses. If you are traveling by train or bus, call ahead for the shuttle.

Short stay due to other circumstances, what I did experience was great. Breakfast was good and cooked to order. Beds were comfortable and one seemed softer than the other for a nice choice. Front desk staff were helpful and understanding that when i needed to leave early. Short walk to a nearby park. Eating options close by.

It's 6:30 am and I just got back to my room after being relocated overnight. The suite next door was the scene of a wedding party that started at 11pm and went on into the early hours. The hotel staff refused to get them to quiet down, despite repeated requests. The party was so loud it could be heard through the entire floor. Around midnight-after three calls- the hotel offered to have me relocated to a room on a different floor. As compensation, they offered me a free breakfast. (Those who are used to hilton garden inns will get the irony- as breakfast is typically free) the staff was unresponsive and uninterested in living up to their promise of" your satisfaction or its free" If you are looking for a place to party without regard to other guests, this hotel may be for you. If you actually want to SLEEP in your hotel room- give this one a pass!

Despite taking the location into consideration and having relatively low expectations, this Hilton can surely use an update and frankly some more love from the housekeeping staff.

Layout is odd no matter which entrance you're coming in -- parking lot (which is free) or off the main road -- as the check in desk is located on the second floor. Check in was a breeze, front desk agent was friendly and helpful. Not much character for the lobby, in fact there isn't much to it. Room is of course decent size considering space isn't such a commodity upstate. Decor is fine, relatively blah but some things definately stand out (for the wrong reasons)....

- Toothpaste and coffee stains on the wallpaper in the bathroom
- The room phone is YELLLLLLLOW (I used a tissue to push the buttons. Thank god for the speaker option)
- Bed skirt had very obvious stains that surely shouldn't have been missed by the cleaning staff... if they actually gave a crap

Plus is that it is conveniently located near the medical center and a relatively good area of town, but so is the Marriott Townplace Suite down the road.
