Owner description: Take A Dutch Apple Cruise on the scenic and historic Hudson River, the ideal way to see the sights. Our vessel offers you sunshine and breezes or the protection of fully enclosed and heated/ac decks. Features of all tours include ample free parking, U.S.Coast Guard inspected vessel, comfortable seating, clean restrooms, full cash bar and light refreshments. With your safety in mind, we suggest low heeled or soft soled shoes. We cruise rain or shine. Don't forget to bring your binoculars for eagle sightings!

While we enjoyed the cruise, we expected more. A nice scenic view but the food wasn't the best, I suggest a late afternoon or early evening cruise to get the full effect

Gosh I have made this trip over 15 times and love the Hudson River. We have held reunions, celebrations, customer events and just taken nice rides on the river with or without dinner. Try it you will like it.

This pleasant sightseeing excursion which leaves from Broadway in the Port of Albany offers a 2-hour cruise northbound about a mile along the city waterfront and then southbound about 15-20 miles to Castleton. It's an excellent bargain for $17.95. You get a blend of historical buildings in downtown Albany, grain elevators and oil tanks, and then miles of riverfront mansions and park land as you head south. Pat, the personable tour guide, gave an entertaining but informative hour-long talk, and then answered questions one to one afterward. She is a former newspaper reporter, well-read on Hudson River history and folklore. She helped us spot eagle nests, blue herons and kayakers as we chugged along. The Dutch Apple is about the size of a tug boat but with 3 decks. Top deck is the primo spot -- get there early for first dibs on the best patio chairs and tables. If you prefer to be indoors, out of the sun and breeze, the middle and bottom decks are fine. I would not recommend the boat for those in wheelchairs, since the bathrooms are on the bottom deck and require navigating a flight of stairs. The gangway to the boat also has a sharp slope, not good for those with walkers or canes. That's my only demerit for this cruise. A bar on the bottom deck is well stocked with beer, liquor and snacks. The boat also offers dinner cruises and late-night party cruises, plus occasional longer cruises as far as West Point. The parking is only a few steps from the boarding area. If you have enough energy and interest, you could also tour the USS Slater, a WW2 destroyer, which is berthed next door. Both vessels are just slightly south of the Dunn Memorial Bridge, off I-787-South. Take the Madison Ave-Port of Albany exit and follow signs for a few blocks to the parking lot. The Athena food truck in the parking lot offers tasty burgers, hot dogs, burritos and breakfast if you have extra time.

The Dutch Apple cruise is a nice boat, staff are very nice & our guide was more then perfect. The only thing we dislike about our cruise is the view ... there is nothing to see except a small portion of downtown & some hudge houses. We went to Boston & you can compare one with the other.

On a hot day, cruise along the Hudson and see views of Albany, the port of Albany, the USS Slater and then beautiful landscapes down the river to Castleton. Narration for the first part of the trip pointing out various sites and sights. Afternoon sightseeing cruise offers beverages for purchase and snacks; for food (burgers) first stop at the food stand prior to boarding the ship. Interior seating as well as open air seating on the top deck. I bring a book and relax. This tour wowed visiting family members last year, they keep telling me what a nice day they had and I keep hearing "I didn't know that Albany was so interesting!" Good job, Dutch Apple.
