“Nice getaway ”

We rented this cabin for my wife's 40th birthday. She wanted to do something that the kids could do as well and this was a good choice. It was a short distance from where we live, and it was relatively secluded, yet close enough to towns and villages as to not be inconvenient to run out and get anything we needed.

The cabin was very clean and was set up as advertised. Just make sure you are aware that, just as the ad states, it is not directly on the lake. I misunderstood this, but that is my fault and not a reflection of the property, the ad, or its owner. I just want to make sure anyone else reading this understands that too.

Some of the pros of this place are: washer and dryer work great; the family room is really nice with the big table, fireplace, and home theater; the fire pit was cozy and entertaining; the beds and couches/chairs were very comfortable; and the kids loved the bunk beds and TV in their room. Wi-Fi was a lifesaver on the one rainy night we had and worked great for streaming audio.

The only negative things I can say about it are these: When we first arrived, the house had a musty odor, and for the first couple of days, the water had a strong egg odor, but it cleared up after using it for a while. The pine trees outside provide a lot of shade, but the pine needles will pile up inside if you don't vacuum every day. The grill had one burner not working, and we made the owner aware of it. That is all being very nitpicky though.

The owner, Mary, was very attentive and responded by text or phone very quickly to any questions or concerns we had.

Overall, I would rate this cabin as very good.

We would recommend this cabin to anyone that wants to experience the Adirondacks and is looking for a good amount of privacy, but wants to stay close to civilization.
