So much of Seychelles has been ruined by intrusive hotel development. At least on Curieuse there is no development. The island can be comfortably explored in half a day and there are lots of boat owners on Praslin who will take you out there. The giant tortoises roam freely and you can learn about them from the breeding station. A gentle stroll will take you through mangroves up a steep, bare granite hill with amazing photo opportunities and down to the historic site of the Doctor's House, dating from when the island was a leper colony. Then you are free to laze, swim, snorkle on the pristine white beach while awaiting a boat to take you back to Praslin.

We visited Curieuse island as part of a catamaran cruise with a stop to look at the giant tortoises. The walk through the island was very interesting seeing all the crabs and mangrove swamps. Our guide was very informative and we really enjoyed it.

The tortoises are quite tame and like to be scratched. You can also see them very close up and feed them. A must see if you visit Seycelles.

Very interesting island with the mangrove swamps full of whelks and crabs and other things.Lots of endemic flowers and a lovely beach just beyond the old doctors house and lots of free roaming tortoises. All in all a very interesting trip and well worth using a water taxi rather than a travel company

I liked the walk throught the island. It's a cute litte island. The big turtles was so cool! The bbq was good but we were very surprised that it was a bbq with ALL tourists who came to Curieuse that day. I had pictured a bbq just for our group alone. Snorkeling at St. Pierre was ok but not much more than that. All the coral is dead. It's still nice to see St. Pierre though because it's so beautiful to see from the water. The snorkeling at Anse Lazio was 100 times better than at St. Pierre!

the 90 minute walk from the main boat drop-off to the place where the giant turtles are is definitely worth it, plenty of weird wild life (sand crabs in particular). A must-do if staying in Praslin. If traveling by hired boat, make sure they have the required number of life jackets on board, most just don't.
