Recommended length of visit: 2-3 hours
Owner description: One of Seychelles' two UNESCO World Heritage Sites, this ancient forest is home to the wondrous Coco de Mer palm, which has the largest seed in the world, and many other birds, plants and reptiles, many of which are found nowhere else in the world. Visiting the Vallee de Mai is a step back in time and a unique experience.

Fantastic, modern facitilities which cater for tourists well. The ticket price has gone up to 20Euros which is more expensive than our guidebook told us but with that you can get complimentary tours in a variety of language.
Our tour guide (Shaun) was really professional and knowledgeable and entertaining. He gave a tour of around 30mins then let us explore the rest of the forest at our leisure.
The maps are useful but it is impossible to get lost as the trails are so easy to follow and well kept.
Don't go to the Seychelles if you are scared of spiders!! Palm spiders are everywhere but they are harmless though.

The paths are well maintained and the routes very well sign-posted. We only did a short hike as we did not have much time in Praslin but enjoyed the experience.

A UNESCO site that preserved one of the oldest forest on earch. You can reach here by bus and the bus stop is right in front of the ticket counter. You won't get lost as everybody who are tourist are taking off at this stop. The ticket include a free guding tour and we joined the one at 10am, and that last aorund an hour. It was very educating and we learnt a lot about the largest seed on earth as well as other knowledge regarding other plants in this forest. You will be amazed by the giant leave of the coconut tree which could be severy story high.

Vallée de Mai, Praslin is home to the coco de mer. Sadly, aside from a nature trail with limited information and just a long nature trail, there isn't much to see if you are walking around without a guide. It would be good to do some reading about everything before you get there so that you can appreciate it more.

To be honest, I did expect a lot more than just coco de mer on trees, and perhaps a few interactive things on the way would be nice. Audio guides would have been helpful too.

Still, it is very natural and 100% of their earnings (only non-locals pay entrance fees) go to conservation of the nature reserve so it is worth dropping by.

Expensive, not really wither if you are short of time. A good walk on la digne will offer better scenery. These coco de mer are not so amazing as described.we were a bit disappointed. Indeed it is a nice walk if the weather is not so good and want to see a bit of forest.,
