Now this is what I call a resort!! The villa we stayed in was beautiful, comfortable and so inviting. We were located near the North Beach area. The staff are very friendly and helpful, many of them getting to know you by name. Naren was always available to pick us up and take us to a restaurant, to check in with us during the day to book our dinner plans and to make sure we had whatever we needed at any time. I've never been treated so well!
We utilized the Ephelia Boat House and Dive Center to get certified in Open Water Scuba Diving and had a wonderful experience! Robin was our PADI Instructor. He is knowledgeable, fun, patient and very helpful. I highly recommend him and the diving center!

We came to Ephelia for the second part of our honeymoon, after spending what i can only describe as an amazing stay on Denis Island.

Unfortunately, we felt that there were a number of things that didn't match up to what was clearly a 5* resort. Without a doubt, Ephelia has outstanding facilities and is set in a luxurious environment, but for us the quality of the food and the poor service did not match up to the 5* surroundings. We felt that the menu choices were boring and few and offered no variety and that the food tasted mass produced and bland. There was nothing particularly wrong with the meals that we had, they were edible but they just did not match up to the other 5* elements of the resort.

The other thing for us, was the quality of the staff at the resort, I don't think staff set out to be rude but it felt that when we dined out in any of the restaurants that we were ignored. We had to wait to catch the eye of a waiter/waitress and on some occasions sat there for 15 minutes, waiting for plates to be cleared of for drinks to be brought to the table. It didn't look like the restaurants were short staffed there were always plenty of people around but it felt like we were more like a hindrance to them.

The other issue we had was at Zee Bar, the first time we went to this bar, which is stylish and feels really modern and 5*, we waited over 15 minutes to even be acknowledged by bar staff and we actually were sat at the bar and there were only a handful of people there! It was the same issue here that waiters just ignored us and felt avoided eye contact. On one occasion, the entertainment from the band ended and Euro 2012 football was put on the big screen, Spain v Portugal, and within 5 minutes the waiters were sat down on the dance floor side of the bar, watching the football! We couldn't get a drink, we couldn't even get anyone's attention to sign for our drinks. My husband had to get up and go over to the bar and flag down the guy making the drinks.

Also, when we went to breakfast at Corossol, the staff weren't friendly, they didn't say good morning, or even ask us if we knew where to go, it took 10 minutes for them to come and ask us for a drink.

It would have been nice if the sparkling wine left for us in our room on arrival was chilled, it was left in a champagne bucket but without any ice in it. Also the cakes that were left for us, were covered in ants. The ants were not on the desk oddly enough but had got into the cling filmed covered plate and were crawling over the cakes. These were obviously in there when the cake was wrapped up? Which was disappointing.

We also booked a buggy pick up for our departure by calling through to reception the day before we left, on that day when we headed up to Zee Bar before dinner, we thought we should check with guest relations to make sure it had been booked, when we got there it hadn't been booked, there was no record of our booking, so we made another booking with the guest relations team. When we went to check out that night after dinner, we checked again, reception had no record of the booking. It's a good job we were cautious enough to check three times!

I would like to finish on a positive note though and tell you about the the only exceptional service we got during our stay and that was from Hansel who worked at the Ssewela bar, he did all the things we expected from a 5* service, he was attentive, friendly, knowledgeable and always made us feel really special guests. A big thank you to him for that!

A top tip - we were on full board but the drinks in our mini bar were expensive and so were the drinks when we were in the bars, follow other advice on here and go out of the North gate only a few hundred metres to the local store and buy the same beer for a third of the price in the minibar.

I think when you are going to a 5* resort you dont just expect 5* facilities but you expect to get 5* service, however big the resort might be. We found that the staff and the quality of the food let the resort down, maybe that is because of the size of the resort but in future I think we would use our hard earned pennies, to go to a smaller more exclusive resort where the experience is far more personable.

Stayed in a Junior Suite which is their standard room and it was gorgeous. The bathroom was one of the best i have ever used it was huge, modern and has a tub for two ! The room itself is very large with a lounge area and desk, outside has a deck with chaise longue and a view. The Junior Suite really is of a high enough quality, i couldn't imagine needing a higher class of room. TV has large choice of channels in numerous languages, room in excellent condition, cleaning was faultless. However the Housekeeing team outside my door all day were distractingly noisy. The A/C in the rooms does struggle during the hottest part of the day, but it is not unbearable. Bar staff excellent, restaurant staff very slow and unmotivated. Food quality very good for an island. Large choice of food and beverage outlets, 5 restaurants and about 4 bars. Everything decorated in a relaxed, elegant fashion. Two private beaches, regular shuttle vehicles to take you around, walking trails and a Giant Tortoise enclosure where you can feed these beautiful animals. The gardens all around the resort are beautiful, there are at least 3 different swimming pools and theme nights in the restaurants. A Shiseido Spa is in the resort if you need treatments. I hope i have not forgotten anything, i loved it and i can not wait to return for a few days.

I want to say thank you to this hotel and it's staff because if it wasn't for you our honeymoon would have been a disaster, you saved our honeymoon and for that i'll be forever grateful, so thank you!!
We had a bad experience at another hotel on Mahe and our travel agent arranged for us to come and stay at the Epheila for the rest of our stay in the Seychelles, we gave the hotel very little time and notice before arriving but they accomodated us no problem. Marie- Agnes our villa host was simply amazing nothing was to much trouble from booking restaurants & spa treatments to offering advice on the restort and island. She was friendly yet profesional and made our time there extra special. I'll never forget our first morning, we woke to be greeted by Marie-Agnes who took us to one of the hillside villas where we had a Champagne breakfast served by the lovley Jaqueline, we had an absolutely wonderful morning and I will never forget it!! And that was just the start of things to come, we received lots of little treats throughout our stay.
A big thankyou has to go to Deep our housekeeper, you have to be one of the best housekeepers i have come across, the room was always clean and immaculate and i loved coming back to see what suprises would be left for us, from pillow mist, to face mist, floral decorations, flower petal candle lit baths, the list could go on!! The villa (villa 14) was very clean and smartly kitted out with a nesspresso maker, apple tv, and internet. We found the bed to be comfortable which i normaly find is not the case in most hotels, and the room very spacious, loved the ouside living area we spent a lot of time there!!
The food at this hotel is very good, we enjoyed our complementary lobser night at the Adam and Eve reasturant but our favourite had to be Cyan Resturant, the food is out of this world . Carosol the buffet resturant is very busy which is to be expected of a resort of this size the quality of food is very good considering how much they have to produce. The resort is very big but you never feel your in a big resort as the service is so personal and everything is well spread out around the resort. What makes this hotel so special is its staff, i've never met staff who are so dedicated, friendly, professional and who take such pride in what they do, they are a credit to this resort. I have to thank Marie Agnes (Villa Host), Naren (Villa Host), Jaquline (in room dinning), Deep (Houskeeping), Pascal (buggy driver) and Vishal (food and beverage manager) you all helped in making this holiday extra specail!! I will recomend Epheila to everyone I know and I hope to come back one day, I've been so impressed with the Constance group we are now looking at maybe the Prince Maurice in Mauritius or the Halaveli in the Maldives for next year's holiday!! Thank You, Mr and Mrs Unsworth.

We spent a week in this resort and loved every minute of our stay. We stayed in a family villa, and the privacy of having our own pool and lots of space was great! There is something for all age groups. I liked the water aerobics and the chance to try different cuisines each day; my grand kids loved the kids' club; my daughter enjoyed the beach, my elderly Mum enjoyed watching the romantic movies on the many TV's located throughout the villa. The sushi restaurant is just wonderful! The lobster flown in from Madagascar was delicious! I would definitely go back!

Room Tip: Ask for a villa as close to the beach as possible!
