“Comfortable and accommodating.”
Reviewed March 3, 2014

We were very happy to find a clean and welcoming place with beautiful amenities. The manager greeted us and from the beginning of our time at this B&B we knew we were in a special place. We were made to feel at home and safe, we were assisted with suggestions for sightseeing and dining and breakfast was made special for us based on our preferences. We would surely recommend to people we know and return if we were again in the area.

Room Tip: This small B&B will make you feel at home.

Get into this place seems to transport you in time. It is beautifully decorated, every single detail is kept, from decoration to service.
Dan received us, and even came to our car, l as when you get to Safed, it is not easy until you get to know the city. We have entered the street from the wrong side and we didn't know it. The room was extremely clean and beautiful. Breakfast amazing, and even on the Sabath, Dan had left a hot meal prepared from the day before. I'm in the tourist bussines and have to say that this place completely exceeded my expectations. The views are amazing, the relaxing athmosphere beautiful, Dan's service, and predisposition to help was very nice. There is always tea, coffe, pastries, and fruits any time. I wish I stayed more than two nights.

We have finally found home after so many attempts to be in the center of the Old City, combined with all of the charm that the Old City can offer plus the comforts and trappings of a modern facility. Artists' Colony Inn provides all that and then some with a great smile and warm, caring service. We were a diverse party that did not all fit in one room. Though another room was not available during our dates, the proprietors did not hesitate to find alternate lodging for the remainder of our crew literally right around the corner in another B&B. The booking process and all other arriving logistics went extremely smoothly from over 10,000 miles away. We had a lovely spacious room with vaulted ceilings, which was clean and well appointed. The bathroom was extremely spacious and also clean, well appointed and had a great design. We had a lovely little outside sitting area that we, unfortunately, could not use due to weather (it was a week after the big snow). The proprietors went out of their way to serve our every need -- food requests for breakfast, restaurant bookings, directions and even escorting us to various shuls along with an encyclopedic knowledge of services throughout the Old City.

Will we come again? Certainly, a rhetorical question!

Room Tip: All rooms are nice, but the room off the lobby does not offer as much privacy as other rooms.

You won't find a better place to call home during your visit to Safed. Everyone at the B&B was very welcoming and accommodating. Don't forget to take a moment out and enjoy the sunset from the rooftop view.

We spent two night at the Artist Colony Inn in the old pat of Safed, Israel. My wife and I stayed in the Avital room which is large and lovely. We had a friend with us and she stayed in one of the smaller rooms but was very satisfied. Susan and Danny, the managers made us feel like members of the family. The location is perfect. The breakfast Susan put together was amazing particularly the salads. The history of the hotel is very interesting.

We arranged with the owner, Jeff Katz, to take us both an a two hour tour of Safed but also a full day tour of the upper Galilee and the Golan. That was an incredible experience. Jeff is a registered tour guid and knows the north very well. We went right up to the Syrian border and Lebanese borders. There is so much to see in that part of Israel that we will have to go back.

I strongly recommend the Artist Colony Inn.

Room Tip: The Avital is a great room.

I was visiting Israel and decided to travel up north and visit the local wineries.
What a wonderful coincidence that this No.1 B&B is right there.
I stayed at the Inn for two nights and loved very single moment there! Wonderful managers! Wonderful location!
Breakfast was a real treat and complementary Nespresso!! Could I ask for more???

The wineries are wonderful and I highly recommend taking a day or two and driving around the Galil and the Golan heights and just enjoy the view and great wine.

Our experience at Artists' Colony Inn in Safed was marvelous. We stayed in the Avital room, a very large room, which was clean, warm and inviting. It was appointed in exceptionally fine taste. Everything about the Inn was beyond what we had expected-- from the plentiful and delicious Israeli breakfast to the awesome views in the courtyard where we sat and relaxed, just taking in the breathless views. It was a real treat after touring the city to come back to this wonderful inn and sit and talk with our hosts who were gracious and could not do enough for us. Five Star is the only way we can describe our time at the Artists' Colony Inn.
