“Great Hotel - shame about the staff!”
Reviewed October 12, 2009

Spacious, well furnished, clean room and bathroom. Breakfast has very good choice and plenty of it. The sport facilities are great, fun place for children as there is a Safari park near by. Location close to Tel Aviv.
Only problem is the staff at reception, they are indifferent bordering on rude, making you feel unwelcome!

We have recently come back from the Kfar Maccabiah, where we were made to feel very welcome. The one bedroom suite was really comfortable and the breakfasts were more than adequate. We would definately stay there again if we were lookig for a similar location and were advised by the reservation team to call them direct for their best rates.

My husband and 11 months baby stayed at this hotel 4 nights in august 2009. We were in a suite on the 7th floor (kinda like a one bedroom).

The room was spacious, clean and had an extra separated restroom. Bathroom had shower and bath. Living room had desk, couch and chair, dining table, large closets space, a safe. Balcony with outdoor furniture. The kitchen was closed however (I am guessing that the owner of this suite rented by the hotel management, wanted to keep his kitchen kosher for when he comes. But you can rent one with an open one. 2 large TV plasma.

We were provided with a clean baby crib (but they don't have crib bumpers).
As a guest of the hotel you can use the large pool (with a lot of toys for kids) and gym of the country club (200 meters from the hotel).

Hotel has a nice and helpfull staff. If you come here for a wedding or a celebration ladies must know that the spa does not have a hair salon (you can ask at the front desk, they will recommend someone to come to your room from outside).

Hotel has internet access pretty much everywhere (room included) for 6 chekel per day. The little shop has everything you need (even cards). Vending machine, washing machine, dryer and iron by the exit door at each floor (ask for coin at the front desk).

A lot of things in the hotel is cash only or charge to the room so bring some cash (there is no ATM in the hotel or the country club, you have to go just outside of the complex, on the left side of the security guard office). It's not that far anyway.

This hotel has a shabbat elevator and have all the amenities for those of you who may be religious (no tiring of toilet paper, shabath elevator, kosher food etc.

Food was expansive but good at the hotel restaurant. English is not a problem in Israel.
This hotel is 15 minutes to Tel Aviv (but after 5pm during the rush hour week, you can have a lot of traffic that could add up to 40 minutes ! (be careful if you are going to a wedding at sundown).

If you are looking to buy baby food or wipes or other hygiene products SUPER PHARM is a store like CVS or Wallgreen. There is a lot of them. Closest shopping center in Ramat Gan is "the Azriel".

Overall a very pleasant stay compare to the two other hotel we stayed after at in Jerusalem and Bat Yam , this one was a breeze :-)

I've stayed at hundreds of hotels, and found that great staff can compensate for a myriad of flaws in the facility. At the Kfar Maccabiah, the opposite is true - an obnoxious staff can ruin the experience in what otherwise would have been a memorable stay. They act as if they're doing you a favor by even acknowledging your presence, and make you feel like a burden - not a guest. The facility is all about the sports club, and that is in a class all by itself. It's still not enough to bring me back again.

There is no way to imagine a hotel more poorly run than The Kfar Hamacabia. We picked the hotel because we wanted somewhere close to town, but outside of the hustle and bustle of Tel Aviv. When we arrived, the put us in a room that they promised was non-smoking; you could smell the smoke from the elevator. When we entered the room, after giong back downstairs (twice) to get the correct key (as they kept making mistakes) there was an ashtray and matches in the room. When we called the front desk to ask them about this, as we were promised (numerous times) that it was non-smoking, they said they would come to pick up the ashtray. Clearly, the ashtray itself was not an issue, rather it was the fact that the room, the floor, the entire section of the hotel, was smoking.
We had to argue and insist in order to be moved to the new building which is the only non-smoking section (for which we had already paid and been promised). In order to move us, we had to pay more for the rooms we had already been promised.
The process continued in this manner. When you ask about using the Internet they say it is six dollars a day, when you go to sign up for it, they tell you it will be twelve dollars a day, you say, "I thought you said six," the reply: "Okay, six." It felt like if I asked someone else it could be three dollars or twenty. They charge you nearly twenty dollars for coins to do one load of laundry, and they are horrible rude every time you interact with them. The only nice staff members work in the breakfast room and the cleaning serivce, everyone at the front desk: managers, staff, etc. is over the top, almost like you're in an SNL skit, RUDE!!!

Was appalled at the lack of warmth from the staff, in fact, found them snooty and unfriendly.

We went to the hotel for a party and stayed over the weekend. The hotel and its rooms are very nice but it needs it to make up for the lack of good food and staff that is just plain mean. It is next to the Maccabiah sports centre and we had acces to all of its services including 4 pools.
There was a party going on in the park and it was in the early morning so nwe couldnt sleep late and it continued until the night.
Overall it was a mediocre stay.
