“good value for money”

Kfar Maccabiah is a large renovated and comfortable hotel in Ramat Gan, next to the national park and the zoo ("Safari").
The room is big, comfy and very clean. There's not much view but very quiet outside (which I cannot say on the inside, the walls are thin). The only problem with the room is the water facilities in the bathroom, which were quite shaky and not completely attached to there place.
Breakfast was generous and tasty, and the sport center which serves the guests is wonderful - lots of swimming pools (also for kids), water slides, gym etc.
Staff was good and treated any request, including pain-killers for the headache that bothered me for two days.
Tourist probably prefer Tel Aviv, but as locals we found the hotel a good option for a family vacation near home.

A large, modern and impersonal hotel that seems to have a good selection of sports activities. Not that is so good for busy business people who don't have time to devote to using the facilities. It's tries to be a bit of everything - business hotel, family hotel, hoilday hotel, sport resort, etc but doesn't excel in any. Building, bed rooms and grounds are shabby and the hotel is not conveniently situated for Tel Aviv (or anywhere really) but it is about 15 minutes away from the airport. It does need an upgrade very soon. Quite a busy and therefore noisy hotel. Staff are generally pleasant, some are lacklustre. Evening meal was okay but rather overpriced for what is was. There was a good and very large breakfast spread with a wide choice. I stayed 2 nights and had the opportunity to move out to a much more convenient and business orientated hotel.

After a long, over-night and over-ocean flight, it’s always a treat to arrive exhausted at a warm, motherly hotel that sweeps you into its arms, tucks you in for a snooze and makes sure all is right with your world. Sadly, that’s not the Kfar Maccabiah. This is a big, impersonal, pseudo-glamorous hotel that thinks it’s a resort – but it’s not.

That being said, it is not an unpleasant place to stay. The hotel is set in a campus-like setting, with several buildings and walking areas. The lobby is large and spacious, serving a hotel (older lower building on the left as you walk in to the lobby) and residential suites (a more modern, high-rise tower on the right). There is a spa, a large gym, tennis courts, a swimming pool (closed for winter when I was there) and presumably other delights hidden around the property.

The elevators were fast and conveniently located. The rooms were clean, modern and everything worked as advertised. The laundry service was quite efficient. The internet is a bit slow, but free. The breakfast restaurant was massive food factory – it featured a very large buffet, but it never changed and you couldn’t get custom dishes, like a particular omelet. The lobby bar and dinner restaurant were expensive, pleasant but impersonal, although the two dinners I had there were quite tasty.

On the negative side, access is difficult and parking is almost impossible. Smiles and welcomes from the staff are rare. The security people are officious and annoying. The prices are relatively expensive for what you get. After a while, I was just glad to be moving on.

Would I recommend the Kfar? If the location is convenient for you, sure, give it a try. But don’t go out of your way.

Just for the record, I stayed at the hotel in late March 2012 and paid $139 per night. Travel time from

This is the second time I've stayed here for business. First stayed in the suites wing (*****), this time in the hotel wing (****). The rooms were almost exactly same except for the door to the adjoining room in the suites wing.

The hotel is very quiet and VERY clean. But its not convenient if you need to get into town. Taxi from the airport: 120 shekels.

My rate included breakfast. Really good (and different!) buffet. A very nice change from the 'standard hotel buffet' you get everywhere. The dinner buffet was less exciting.

Noisy from the air conditioner outside the end room. Quite smelly and very tired looking furnishings. Like a throwback to an early 70's Hilton Hotel. Friendly staff.

I spend a weekend at this hotel for a family Bar Mitzva. We received a suite which was what I would expect from a 3 star hotel. My children received rooms which they said were shabby. The food was decent, but nothing special. The adjacent Kfar Maccabiah grounds are extremely shoddy and run down. The pools are terrible, the grassy areas have more dirt than grass. Garbage and junk can be spotted everywhere.

This hotel should be adequate for business travelers, although the location is pretty remote.

I could never see myself paying to stay at this place, and if I was invited by family to stay here again I would not be too happy about it.

A bit far out of town to be much use if you want City attractions. Service can be slightly slow. Large rooms with two single beds beside each other rather than the normal Queen size. Excellent breakfast.
