We stayed at the Island for a full week last week, and I feel compelled to write a review. In short, this hotel's best feature is its view. It is, however, far from being the luxury hotel it claims to be.
PROS
- gorgeous views from a spacious balcony
- separate living room: perfect for those with a baby who needs to nap daily and goes to sleep early
- wonderful pool area, including a shaded baby pool - a highlight of our trip
- Sveta, who works at the front desk: every interaction we had with her was totally professional and efficient.
CONS
- SERVICE AT CHECK IN: We had to wait 45 minutes in the lobby to go to our room! People working here were always agreeable, but it's like pulling teeth to get anything done. We arrived on a Saturday and were told the check-in on Saturdays is 16:00; we arrived at 17:30, exhausted from a long flight, and were told it would take "just a moment" because "they need to check the room once more" and get the crib we'd requested up to our room. We waited 15 minutes, and I asked if the room was almost ready. I received a sincere apology and a promise it would be ready soon. At 18:15 (a full 45 minutes after arrival), our baby understandably lost his patience (as did we) and I told the front desk that we'd waited too long. He picked up the phone and said "Can you check their room again please" (?!?!). Then he said we could go up. When we got to the room, the crib was not there. 2 hours and 15 minutes after our check-in time.
- ROOM CLEANING: On the first day, our room was not cleaned at all. The second day, I called to ask that they clean the room early, and they promised to be there right away. No one came. We called reception. They promised someone within half an hour. No one came. In the end, we asked them to come later in the afternoon. The rest of the days, the cleaning was inconsistent (sometimes we got towels and soap, other times we didn't). There were a lot of misunderstandings and we had to make several phone calls to reception to beg to have the room cleaned before 12:30 when our baby had to nap. We also had to request a do-not-disturb sign several times before finally getting one on the third day.
- BREAKFAST: decent, but not amazing by Israeli standards. A nice selection of fresh vegetables, breads, and cheeses, but the cooked items were tired and heavy. Also: Israel is a big coffee country, yet we didn't have a single decent cup of coffee at this hotel. There is really no excuse for this!
The biggest problem, as others have mentioned, is that the nice breakfast room upstairs, with windows and a view, is often unavailable (we ate there less than half our mornings in the hotel) -- this means you have to eat in the basement. Not only is there no view, no windows, etc., but the tables are folding tables with room for only two people to fit their legs (on the other two sides are the folding contraptions). Since we were three, I had to sit a foot away from the table to eat. On top of all this, I saw a small roach in this room -- on two different mornings. Needless to say, this is not what one expects from a "luxury" hotel.
Finally, I must add that in all my travels I have never before experienced a situation in which members of the hotel staff yell instructions to each other across the room and interrupt conversations other staff are having with hotel guests, both of which happened repeatedly while we stayed here. Again, the staff was always very nice in our interactions; the problem is the lack of professionalism.
- PARKING: There are no signs at the parking entrance; when visitors arrive, they turn into the driveway and may or may not see the tiny, unmarked intercom that they're supposed to use to ask for the barrier to be lifted. This caused much frustration among those trying to enter.
- BEACH SHUTTLE SERVICE: This service is hourly from 11-5; the service back to the hotel ends at 3:45. How does this make sense?! Why begin the service at such a late hour (the hottest part of the day) rather than earlier in the morning? And why does the return service end before 4, when the last shuttle to the beach is at 5? There is no logic or efficiency here.
- KITCHEN: It's wonderful that there is a small kitchen for guests' use, with a full refrigerator. But there is no silverware (much less other utensils). You can request it, and you will get plasticware, which is better than nothing, of course; but again: a "luxury" hotel would provide decent silverware in its rooms.
- THE ROOM: If you like Miami modernism, you will like the decor -- all black and white leather, glass, and steel. This is a matter of personal taste. The aesthetic was not my favorite, but overall it was comfortable, the room was very quiet and private, and it was spacious.
Overall, then, the hotel was adequate, the view breathtaking, the room comfortable, the service frustrating.

Dear sookiestackhouse75,

Thank you for your time and consideration to share your thoughts both here and in person during your stay.
it is always through guests comments and experiences where we are able to monitor and develop service standards.
While a little late to rectify for you this time, your comments have most assuredly been taken on board for further discussion and investigation.
The issues raised are certainly not in keeping with the standards we strive to achieve and it seems we regrettably let you down on this occasion.
We'd hope we do get that next opportunity to show you we can do so much better and look forward to welcoming you back.

With thanks and best regards,

I did not know what to expect from this hotel but I was pleasantly surprised. Beautiful, large suites and unbelievable ocean views. Furniture in my suite was a bit worn but that did not detract from the overall experience. The balcony made up for that with a lot of space. Great value for the price.

As part of a Tour Group, this hotel was the meet and start point. Very pleasant surprise after an all night flight. The rooms were suites with the bedroom upstairs. The view of the Mediterranean was absolutely fabulous. We were only there for one night, but I would like to go back and stay for longer. It was probably the nicest of the three hotels we stayed at during the tour.

The only down side was the restaurant is very small and with a tour group being there, not much room. It was like eating in shifts due to not enough room. But if the weather is nice, you can sit outside.

A group with Pilgrim Tours stayed at this property. My husband and I decided to arrive a day early before the rest of the group so we could rest up before beginning our 12 day tour. It would have been unfortunate had we been there just one night. Our room had a large, private balcony with a table and chairs as well as two lounge chairs facing the Mediterranean Sea. We could hear the sound of the sea with the sliding glass doors open. The room had space, was well appointed. The food was superb with exquisite presentation in the restaurant. There is a nice walkway along the beach for exercise. We could stay there for a week and be happy . It was our best hotel on the tour.

Room Tip: Choose seaside.

This hotel has some awesome views of the Mediterranean and some very spacious balconies. Staff was very friendly. This place has very good wifi as well. The hotel room was clean and had a good amount of room. Outside of the hotel is a nice small boardwalk type area. It also has some shops for Gelato and some various stores. This area is not huge but just big enough. If I make it back to Netanya, I would def check this place out to stay.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the sea.
