“Mosaic amazement”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 23, 2014

I'm not religious at all (and not Christian/Catholic) but I was in awe just walking around and looking at all the different depictions of Mary and baby Jesus from around the world. It was definitely one of the highlights of our time in Nazareth, even over our entire trip to Israel.

“A Must For Pilgrims.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 20, 2014

Due to its history this Church is a very important one for Christian pilgrims.
On entering the large courtyard the first items that will attract you are the many mosaics from around the world giving each country's version of the Annunciation.
Inside the main Church is the impressive altar and the small amphitheatre which is outside the Shrine. The stained glass windows and the daily devotions of the religious give a deeply spiritual feeling.
Do not rush your visit here as I was fortunate in being able to witness a Palestinian baptism service which was very interesting.

“Impressive”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 17, 2014

There are 2 churches of the Annunciation, so I'm not sure which one is meant here. However, one of them has an exhibition of mosaics offered by countries all around the world, which donated their version of the annunciation to the church. The ruins of the ancient village are also beautiful and worth visiting.

“Nice church and a impressive history”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 15, 2014

If you are christian this place is a must. Mary got to know about the coming of Jesus. The wall mosaic outside of the church are really nice and illustrate christianity around the world.
But don't expect an impressive architecture. If the christian believe is not yours, skip it.

“Simple yet stunning”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 14, 2014

This is the main church in Nazareth. And it's beautiful. It overwhelms with its architectural simplicity and clean lines. The interiors follow a similar pattern. Mosaics of Mary from all over the world adorn its walls and its stained glass windows are unusual too. The high dome is minimal yet beautiful.
The church is on two floors. At the lower level is the Grotto of Annunciation. Mary's cave remains as it was, though most of the area was destroyed time and again.
Take some time absorbing the church and its environs. We spent a couple of hours here. A good guide makes all the difference......
