“Wonderful Basilica”
Reviewed November 21, 2012

It's huge and built over the ruins of the old church and the well, which can be seen from the outside. It's a huge complex and wonderfully designed.

“Modern yet beautiful and worth a visit for everyone”
Reviewed November 12, 2012

If you are not a devout churchgoer, but still appreciate the special atmosphere and significance of this place, this church is worth a visit. The modern architecture manages to magically include the ancient partsa in a breathtaking modern structure which still retains all of its spiritual expression.

“Beautiful Church”
Reviewed November 8, 2012

I enjoyed visiting this Basilica once again. Was pleased to be able to go to Nazareth. Not always a good place for a Christian to be. As in all important places in Israel, ruins are saved by building a church over them. It may not "be" the place that the Annunciation took place, but somewhere close to it. Who cares. This my be overwhelming to those not of Catholic faith. Many paintings, works of art of the Virgin Mary. I enjoyed it anyway. Peaceful.

“*THIS IS NOT THE CHURCH OF THE ANNUNCIATION!*”
Reviewed November 4, 2012

The church in question is the Basilica, not the Church of the Annunciation. The annunciation never took place anywhere the Basilica. The ruins under the church complex are great, but the church itself is a misleading tourist trap.
It is constantly overloaded with rude tour groups from around the world. If you want to see genuine history in this great city then see the ruins under the church and move on.
