Turning into the small courtyard (really small), away from the bustling shuk, walking to the end of the entrance way and descending seven steps, you go back centuries. I was lucky enough to be here alone, nobody around to talk or laugh; nobody to spoil the atmosphere. This is a pearl of a place and I recommend it to everyone. Go with the anticipation of standing in a spot where history was made. As a Jew, I do not accept Jesus as Messiah, but I was nevertheless greatly moved by the feeling of standing in a Crusader church built upon the ruins of the synagogue where Jesus is believed to have studied and prayed.
I wrote about my visit and put up photos: http://wizzley.com/synagogue-church-nazareth-israel/
