Our tour did a by the way stop here and we only had 5 minutes but still it was very worth it as it gave us an idea of the story of Zacchaeus and what it would have been like. I had never seen a Sycamore tree before so it was interesting. There were a few paddlers selling dates by the roadside - it was cheap!

This tree is located in a garden that was built with the cooperation of the Government of Russia with the Palestinians. This garden looks beautiful. In it there is the olive tree called the Zacchaeus tree, reminiscent of the Gospel narratives that tell when Jesus called the publican Zacchaeus to come down from the tree because Jesus wanted to pay a visit to his home. . This tree was hundreds of years old and still looks solid. The leaves are also still looks lush

Our guide said that this is not the original tree and this tree may be 800 years old. But the feeling is great about Zaccheeus who climbed on the tree to see Jesues

Jericho is said to be the most ancient, continually occupied city in the world. Archaeologists have unearthed the remains of more than 20 successive settlements, the first of which dates back 11,000 years (9000 BC). The Zaccheus Tree is just one of the interesting, albeit questionable places/things, in the Middle East. It is supposed to be the tree Zacchaeus the Tax Collector climbed to see Jesus. Well... it is very old, but is it really the tree and the spot - who knows, its the classic biblical tale that works here, so just take it on face value, and realized this is a VERY ancient spot.
