$89.00 for one night... highschool football game just down the road...lots of noise.... 2 queen beds... mini kitchen... reg bath... all clean... stupid curtain kept falling in front of the a/c so the room never cooled down... unless you opened the drapes... 1st floor...not going to happen... did not sleep well all night... stuffy and hot.... could never get curtains to stay out of the way... and then there was the food.... ok.. Best Western does not own the horrible Chinese restaurant.. and if they were smart... they would find a way to evict them... the food was over cooked and dry...and tasteless...but hey...no MSG!!!.... awful...just AWFUL... and did I mention the diarreah!!...yeah.. nice benefit... so anyway.... courtesy breakfast is done by the same horrible Chinese restaurant.... everything and I mean everything was overcooked the bacon was like beef jerky... the scrambled eggs were crispy and brown.... yuck yuck yuck... again.. best western needs to separate themselves from that place..... oh and if you are allergic to cats... beware... there is a resident cat... sweet and kind... but if you have allergies... probably not a good thing...

I traveled solo to my son's graduation from the Federal Law Enforcement Center and was a little apprehensive about my stay because of the variety of reviews on this hotel and others in the city. I picked the right one! I was pleasantly surprised with a nice, clean room - including the bathroom! The towels were nice and thick too! I had a microwave, fridge, coffee maker and a hair dryer in my room. The bed was comfy and it was a spacious room. The staff was friendly and I got a HOT breakfast each morning. Would definitely book again if ever in Artesia.

Artesia is busy right now. Lots of oil related business going on. There are not very many good places to stay in this area. This is actually one of the better ones. It's not fancy or cheery, but it smells better than most in the area. It's usually booked solid. The office staff tries to accomodate their customers when they can. Decent places to stay in Carlsbad are very scarce. It's probably worth the drive to Artesia from there rather than trying to stay in Carlsbad.

Although the room was non-smoking, there was a lingering smell of smoke, especially in the bed linen and pillows. Huge stains on the ceiling (room 209) bothered us. The food in the restaurant was horrible. We ordered dinner from the menu and waited 45 minutes! For chinese food! Breakfast was terrible too, everything overcooked.

We were going to stay 2 nights but checked out after 1.

On a positive note, the hotel staff was friendly, professional and accomodating.

We stayed here on our way to Carlsbad Caverns. It is just an hour more (at most) down the road to the Caverns, which made this handy.
The bed was comfortable, and there was plenty of room in our king room. A refrigerator was nice for putting our water in. The bathroom was also roomy enough.
The pool was open, however the hot tub had been closed down by the state health department! We decided not to use the pool.
There was a little chinese restaurant attached, so we decided to eat dinner there, as there was nothing else open in town on a Sunday night. Bad choice. It was some of the worst Chinese food I've ever had.
Breakfast was included in our room price, so we went down in the morning to find out it is served in the Chinese restaurant! We weren't sure what to expect, but got eggs, bacon, toast, coffee and juice . All pretty good.
All in all, i probably wouldn't stay here again, but if needed, the bed was comfortable.

Booked to stay here but moved hotels as soon as we got there. The place needs to be bulldozed. I would suggest you book the holiday inn across the road.

I really liked this place. You can see the pride in ownership of this property by how it is maintained. It is an older property, but they really keep everything in great working order, and it is very clean. The Federal Law Enforcement Training Center and a couple of major oil refineries make up most of their business. However, I concur with an earlier reviewer that this is a much nicer place to stay if you are planning a trip to Carlsbad Caverns. I had not read anything very positive about any of the hotels in the city of Carlsbad. Also, the city of Artesia is just a neat place. The staff at the hotel were friendly and helpful. They also serve a full complimentary breakfast. I highly recommend the Pecos inn.
