This small restaurant was surprisingly good. The atmosphere was pleasant, we sat in the small patio in the early afternoon on a hot day and the fan worked perfectly to keep the place pleasantly cool. Although we do not usually order vegan, we did this time just to try these items out. There were more than enough non vegan choices. Nelly herself explained all the dishes and we chose two starters, an antipasti and baked beetroot with burghull filling. Both were excellent. The main course was "Mexican special for me; made up of two tortillas filled with a vegetable omelet with greens, a salsa sauce and a carrot/cucumber salad. I asked if they had a hot salsa, instead of the mild one I received and one was immediately brought to me. Thoroughly enjoyable and surprisingly filling. My wife ordered red lentil balls (like a meat ball made with crushed lentils instead of meat) also with the same salad. I thought the balls were tasty but a bit dry - not enough gravy. My wife liked them just as they were.
When we sat down we were served with cold water before we even asked for it, the meal came with a small loaf of bread (very small) with a small serving of humus.
We ordered cold drinks, a Lemonade with mint and a cold ״Forest Fruit״ infusion. Both were very good.

This small eating place has truly changed from a modest mild veggie restaurant to an extremely sophisticated gourmet palace. A fair distance from the eastern part of Jaffa flee market, the usual tables and chairs in the little garden, the two small tables inside the premise are just the same, and so is Nelly in her neat chef costume. But what did recently change, and for the much better, is the menu!!! one can chose from the clearly written menu fish, meat, soups, quiches, salades ,rich breakfasts served till dusk, delicious breads, cakes and confiseries beers and wines.
We enjoyed an extremely tasteful gasapcho, chicken livers with sautee onions., a fine tranche of salmon a la vapeur, washing it all down with tasteful local Rose wine chilled to perfection. My Parisien friends could not stop praising the place, atmosphere, food and service. I warmly recommend this charming place. .

Those of you who read more of my reviews know that I am not quick on giving bad reviews, I match my expectations to the location.

In the case of Nelly's kitchen I came with hopes of enjoying a good healthy breakfast near the Jaffa Flea market.

The breakfast itself wasn't bad, it was ok, fresh and good. The assortment of salads/spreads was small compared to other breakfasts offered in town.

Breakfasts in most locations in Israel include a soft drink/juice and a hot beverage. In this case you could choose only one. When we asked if the hot chocolate was included in the breakfast the answer was positive only to later find out that those were not included. And the two were over priced at that (18 NIS for hot chocolate or tea is excessive). We have also found in the bill the extra bun we have ordered. Anywhere else extra bread is free of charge here it is extra, again without telling us in advance.

To top that the service was rude and the waitress was cheeky to say the least.

Tel Aviv has an abundance of fantastic breakfast locations and restaurants (most of them with easier parking). Simply pick another one and enjoy.
