Description: In the heart of the Flea Market, in a distinctive Bauhaus building, lies Italkiya Bapishpishim, the Italian Restaurant at the Flea Market, offering dishes of the chef's own personal interpretation. From the see-thru kitchen emerge the delicious smells of fresh cooking, floating above the tables scattered on the street, around the building. The restaurant is unpretentious, fitting for any outing and good time – from uniquely romantic to large family gatherings. On the menu you'll find a large selection of pasta, gnocchi and pizza, as well as special meat, fish and seafood dishes that change daily, and, of course, scrumptious desserts. All that's left is for us to invite you to be our guests.

“Best meal we had in Israel!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 29, 2013 via mobile

We stopped in Old Jaffe on our last night in Israel before heading to the airport for a 6am flight. We wanted something not local. We sat at the bar and could watch them cook. The server was excellent. He confirmed our appetizer was his favorite before we ordered. He recommended the wine and it was the best wine we had on our trip. The ravioli was delicious! I wasn't the biggest fan of my crab gnocchi, but the overall quality and taste of everything else really made it the best meal we had on our 12 day trip! The food was simply delicious! We also really enjoyed the wifi. We used it to find a wine store so we could buy the wine our server recommended to bring back to the U.S.

“A small cozy place for Italian food”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 16, 2013 via mobile

We had an early dinner on a Saturday night.
The restaurant sits on a corner with tables on two sidewalks. The service was good. We ordered a pizza. Typical thin crust. The Rocola leaves on the pizza were not fresh. The pizza was a bit too salty for me.
We had chianti wine which wss good but overly priced ( 35 nis per glass).
Coffee was very good.
Desert - they ran out of Tiramisu, so we had the chestnuts - not recommended.
All in all a nice place to go.

“Okay Italian in Jaffa”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 2, 2013

We heard good things about "Italkiya BaPishpeshim" (Italian in the flea market), so we decided to go there for Saturday lunch.
Parking was horrible that day (sunny winter weekend, what could we do?), so we came a few minutes later than our reservation, and were seated right away. Our waitress was pleasant, but did not go out of her way to provide good service. It took us a few minutes to catch her attention in order to get some water. One of the glasses was dirty, and we had to ask for straws separately, which made me think how nice it would be and how restaurants could benefit had they offered tap water right away...
I ordered a local Alexander beer, which was nice (but should have been cooler when served), and we started with a Sweet Potato & Goat Cheese Pizza, which was quite nice. The pizza was thin and crusty, and its only two flaws were that it was not very hot, and had a just little too much tomato sauce. The combination of the goat cheese and the sweet potato was tasty, though.
Our main courses arrived 5 minutes after we finished our pizza. I had a Shrimp Gnocchi, which was a medium-size dish, very tasty but on the spicy side. The shrimps were well cleaned and made, and the gnocchi were a little soft but overall nice.
The other main course was Ganocchi alla Carbonara, which was not bad, but was way too salty, due to the combination of pancetta and parmigiano.
It took us 15 minutes of attempts until we managed to get the attention of our waitress and ask for the desert menu. We decided to take the Chestnut cream with chocolate and crunchy nuts, which sounded the most interesting. It was served in a small jar, and unlike all other items on the menu was overpriced for it's worth... the desert sat in this jar for too long, the crunchiness was all gone, and the taste of the chestnuts was not very evident. I had a double espresso, which was very good. When the waitress asked how the desert was, we had to confide that it was "just ok", and got an apologetic answer that they don't make it locally and buy it from outside, and all the deserts are served in such jars... not a very good excuse, I'm afraid...
All in all, it was a nice meal on a sunny day. The atmosphere was nice, and without the slight service problems we would have given it 4-points, but considering the food and the service, 3 reflects our experience. Not sure we'll return, though, as there are many better Italian restaurants in Tel-aviv.
