“worth it for the view alone”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 28, 2013

The food was good, though not memorable like many other places in Israel. The service was slack, though friendly. the highlight if you sit outside is the view of the bay- very romantic at night. Given its aspiration to be a foodie destination, the furnishings were too beach café not classy restaurant. Nevertheless, a nice evening was had by all.

“Don't Bother Eating Anywhere Else If You Can Afford It”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 29, 2013

You would be hard pressed to find a place anywhere in Israel where the food preparation is more imaginative and where what you are eating is more delectable. And of course eating at the port, while looking out on the sea, is breathtaking. My wife and I have been visiting Caesarea as part of our periodic Israeli sojourn ever since our honeymoon here 34 years ago; this was our 6th stay in Caesarea. Over the years, we have had occasion to eat just about everywhere in this area although admittedly there have never been many establishments to choose from. A fair number of reviewers, including those who have enjoyed their meals here, have observed that the menu items tend to be on the high side in terms of cost which is accurate. As a result, if you are not prepared to pay, say, about $100.00 for a 3 course meal for two exclusive of tip, you probably should be looking elsewhere to eat. However, it is useful to keep in mind that about 20% of the cost of the meal is the imbedded value added tax for which diners derive no benefit. No doubt that were this not the case, the meals here, on a price to value basis, would be regarded as much more in line with reasonable expectations. Which is why eating at one's hotel, where VAT is not imposed on foreign tourists, should always be considered as an alternative to dining out.

“Worse than last time”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 25, 2013

Going back to give them a second chance appeared to be a big mistake. Last time it was not so busy and still the service was poor and the food not so good. We arrived just after lunch time, around 2PM, this time the place was more busy, but nonetheless the staff were taking their time, appeared to be unmotivated, untrained or unmanaged ... you choose! They were more busy standing around, talking to each other and playing with their mobiles. My wife had a hair in her food and generally the food was too oily, unsalted and untasty. This is supposed to be the best restaurant in Caesarea on Tripadvisor, then I don't want to visit the other ones. We went here this time knowing what we experienced the first time, however this time it was even worse. The prices are on the same level as in Tel-Aviv without it's quality and the place is very tourist oriented without even a little smile or greeting. The table was ready quickly after the previous guests had left, but there was no attention to detail. Food was served as if we were in a prison, almost thrown at us, wine was given after we asked for it, not sold, we asked for San Pellegrino water and were given normal water without bubbles. Then we asked for a wine that was sold by the glass (this is the only wine sold by the glass) but apparently it happened not to be there today, without being able to offer an alternative, ike opening another bottle and sell this by the glass, so we ended up not taking wine at all. When we mentioned our observations there was no response from the staff. The view is nice from this place, but if you want to have a good lunch in Caesarea, take a car or taxi to the golf club, it's open to the public and has better service and food. I'm sorry to say this, but they this place is there to rip the tourists off.

“Spactacular view, decent food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 24, 2013

We visited Helena on Passover vacation, and although the restaurant was full, the service remain smily.
The location is unique and wonderfull, overlooking the ancient port of Caesarea, with many tables right on the edge of the port fence.
The food was good, fresh and tasty, but without anything special to mark for the good or for the bad.
My dauteher (5 years old) loved the place as the area is open, without motor dangers, and with lots of corners to be.

“Most beautiful view”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 17, 2013 via mobile

Helena has the most beautiful of the sea and harbor. The food is good but you go for the view. It is a great place to eat while touring the archaeological site.
