One of the best restaurant in Israel ,Great Moroccan chef restaurant. The chef gave us personal service ,and the food was outstanding. Nice building in the heart of the old city. You must eat there.

I am used to Moroccan food, and I cook tajines regularly.
Here, there are made slightly differently, with other sets of spices, and special adaptations from the Chef. The outcome is subtility and not brute force as you find in classical arab-Moroccan places.
The set of appetizers is simply delicious (classical marinated vegetables etc), they are served with warm bred.
We shared different tajines, by two favorites being the one made with veal brain (a treat - no kidding) and fish.
The 2008 red wine from Haute Judée is a very good choice.
The Chef is just ... great, a very nice person.
The place itself is secluded enough, you feel at home.
A touch of unusual: they were playing (softly) old French songs (Montand, Piaf etc.), which surprisingly fitted the place and food.

I had never had Moroccan before but will certainly try it again. This was soul food at it's best, and I wish I had the stomach to eat more. The owner/chef was very attentive to our table and even comped us tea and desserts! He wouldn't let us leave without trying something. Fantastic experience, even if it was a little expensive.

Finally a restaurant which is not a "chain" (Be'er Sheva is full of those kind of places) but a family restaurant. Their cous cous is simply great, the service is nice and the Old City, of an improving beauty, is certainly less anonimous than Big and One Plaza... Reasonable prices!! We paid 300 Shekels (150 each) tip and drink included, but of course you can spend much more, according to what you choose.
