We only had time for a brief visit, but enjoyed the Fortress very much. Wish we had had more time to explore. Definitely take the tunnel to exit, which ends up across the street in the Turkish Bazaar.

Walking through this fortress I was just so astounded as to how they could have built such an amazing structure oh so very long ago. Just staring up at the ceilings you are in awe as to how this could be accomplished. The entrance fee is a bit steep, but how many times are you going to be in Akko, and if you are there you are obviously interested in that period in history. One nice thing is that the fee does include an audio explanation of the sites inside, plus you got free tickets to Treasures in the Wall Museum, (which was a really pleasant surprise, the Museum and the free entrance tickets). They are doing some construction work inside, but this did not detract for the "awe" factor.

Reviews have to subjective. I would say if you are into Medieval history then you will love this place. For me it was nice but I wouldn't see it again. There was too much construction and renovations going on at the time we visited.

I did find the Knights Hall interesting and the visitors center is impressive.

Worth to visit if you are interested in Acre history or in "crusader's adventures" in the Holy land.
It was opened for tourists just a few ears ago, and there are still ongoing restoration works on the site. It's planned to complete some of them on April 2014, so we should visit it next year again :)

This is an amazing piece of history. The Halls of the Templar Cruscaders in the heart of Acre or Akko.

I have visited this Museum several times over the years & the work continues.
Set beneath the famous British Jail house, excavating continues to uncover the great Halls of the Cruscaders who visited the Holyland. Napolean attempted to capture this strategic costal town. Visit the huge Halls of the Cruscaders, see the latrines & wander through the tunnels out to the sea. Some of the Halls are still being excavated & the visitor can see the progress that continues to uncover this interesting site.

A new addition is the Turkish bath where you can enter & enjoy a film & sound show explaining the history of the Turkish bathhouse.

Once in the heart of Acre one can walk the walls of ancient Acre & wander through the Souk, with all the delights of the sounds, smells & taste of the middle east.
