“Not for Claustrophobes”
Reviewed September 3, 2013

Very interesting but the Tunnels which are linked are too tiny for claustrophobes!

Family connections with the Fortress dating back to Israel's War of Independence made this especially poignant for me/us. (My husband's father and my father were fighting on opposite sides - it's strange to think that we have come together and visited this place where one was sentenced to hang as a terrorist and the other was his British guard).

“This is why you visit Akko”
Reviewed August 19, 2013

So fun and interesting to wander around all of the ruins and remnants of the Crusades. Visiting here helps to put the various time periods of history into perspective. The audioguide around the various Crusader sites is quite helpful.

“Complicated History”
Reviewed August 18, 2013

The tour was helpful in trying to understand the tangled 5,000 year history of this region of the Middle East.

“Under refurbishment”
Reviewed August 13, 2013

It was under refurbishment. There was carpenters running about and there were fans and work lamps all over. It ruined the medieval feeling we almost had.

Probably it will be quite nice when finished though.

Also it's pretty tacky to be led out again through a souvenir shop...

“Interesting tour!”
Reviewed July 29, 2013

An impressive, constantly renovated remains from the crusaders era. With the right tour guide, we enjoyed it very much.
