“Filthy city, locals are not to friendly”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 14, 2014

Its a filthy city, no other way to put it. Seems like it used to be a beautiful area. The locals are very poor and that reflects on the maintenance of the old city. Its similar to what Jaffo was like a while back before wealthier people moved in and cleaned up the place.

“golden sunset”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 31, 2013

walk by, get lost, sit for awhile and enjoy watch people come and go.
there is a lot of sightseeing in this city. the turkish bath, the little streets, the port, the houses, restaurants. one can stay for a whole day walking around listening the kids playing, or the Moss calling, at the port watch the hustle bustle of the fisher boats.
lunch in one of the several restaurants, than surrender to the deserts, amazing deserts and coffee.

“Walk through history”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 28, 2013

It was so very interesting to see all the sights of Akko. We walked from the Akko Youth Hostel to the water and back. It took a good 2 hours but we saw a lot. It was enjoyable walking through the market also.

“If you are into this kind of place”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 26, 2013

It is a very old city, probably not something everyone will enjoy.
I like to imagine all of the things that have taken place in the city that have changed the world, adjusted the arc of so many lives, walk where knights, Saracen warriors, kings, etc. have walked seeing at least some of what they have seen, granted that is primarily just me.
I really like historical places and found it fascinating, I did not have a lot of free time to explore, though my wife did most of the tours available in the old city while I worked.
Her thoughts were it was interesting, though not necessary, seeing the city is a day at most.
Arab style markets selling the usual variety of tourist junk, also fresh fish, produce and spices.
I was there for a very rainy period, I wondered how an old stone city would be in the heat of the summer.
You will want to hold your nose down some of the alleys.
Watching locals fishing off the walls was a great diversion.

“It's great! So just come and here it yourself!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 25, 2013

We totally loved it. At night it looks deserted, but during the day the place turns into a great place full small snack bars and stall with fish, spices, fruits, etc. Great atmosphere and great experience. Old Arab-like city one needs to experience. Small narrow streets, historical sites and a great sea views from its walls.
Visit it!
