Wonderful place! great location right on the water nestled in lush green gardens. Beautiful views day and night, particularly of Bali at sunset.
Most Villas have at least some view of Lombok Straits, are clean and feature lovely outdoor bathrooms. Its a 10 minute cab rid to the main strip at Sengiggi if you feel the need to venture out.
Ideal for relaxing and a very special place for couples indeed.

We spent two nights at the Alang Alang and wished it had been 2 weeks. We were put in an ocean front bungalow as requested, which was spotlessly clean, had great character but with modern facilities and lovely touches like flowers on the beds. Even with an extra bed in the room for our daughter it was not crowded. The uninterrupted ocean front view was to die for and you could sit on the porch relaxing and listening to the sea for hours. Or you could stroll to the magnificent beachfront horizon pool or sit at the beachfront bar enjoying a cocktail.
The service was friendly and nothing was too much trouble for the staff from the front desk to the bar and restaurant. We spent plenty time at the bar chatting to the staff and ate at the restaurant several times without a bad meal. It wasn't super cheap but fresh, tasty and ample serves.
If you want a party property, this is not it! It is very quiet and a little way out of Mataram but you can get a taxi into town quickly and cheaply and many of the restaurants provide free transport. It is the perfect antidote to the noise, filth and tackiness of Kuta/Legian and the commercialism that is invading parts of the Gilis. We can't wait to go back for a longer stay.

Room Tip: Ask for an Ocean front bungalow

I stayed at Alang Alang with a girl friend on a quick de-stress trip. The place is very serene and peaceful, which is fantastic if this is what you are after. If you want more of a "vibe", then this is not the place for you. It is just a little out of main Sengiggi action, so you need to catch a "taksi" to get to the restuarants or drinks with other people. We would just pop over the hill for sunset drinks at the Sheraton, or dinner at The Square. It is easy and cheap to do this.
The pool is gorgeous - fully lined with pebbles, it features a swim- in grotto, complete with waterfall over the entrance. You can sit in the grotto or climb out through the top opening to sit on top of the rocks to enjoy the great views to Bali, or dive off into the deep water. There is also a shallow section for kids. The rooms are so beautiful, and each have their own porch with table and chair to sit at. Every evening the staff light a candle at your bungalow for extra ambiance. The staff are so friendly and helpful. The food is spectacular (oh! the banana pancakes at breakfast..!) I will definitely return, next time with my husband and children, who will go crazy when they see it!

We spent the last part of our honeymoon here, and loved it so much we extended our stay by a night. The hotel is gorgeous - it's not as sleek as some of the western-style chains which you can find up the coast or in Bali, but this place has real character and it was a totally delightful place to relax. We were upgraded to a beachview room as the hotel wasn't full. The grounds are beautiful, as is the pool. Breakfasts were delicious, and we ate in the restaurant one night which was also great (with an astounding view at sunset). Easy to arrange trips to Gilis and Rinjani from here (which we did and they looked after our luggage while we were away). The main thing which swung it for us as our favourite place to stay all honeymoon (and we stayed in some pretty nice hotels during our 3 weeks travelling round Indonesia), was the service - totally fantastic, especially the lovely receptionist Hadijah I think (not sure about the spelling!) who could not have been more helpful.

This hotel is not far out of Sengiggi. The grounds are immaculate, right on the ocean, with a great pool and very friendly staff. Restaurant food was reasonably priced, with a fantastic breakfast choice. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

We stayed at the Alang Alang for 11 nights, and loved every minute of it. It's a small place in terms of the number of rooms, but it's spread out over a large area, so it feels like there are few other people there.

The rooms are fine, would certainly recommend the beach front ones. We stayed in a bungalow behind these, but I would pay extra for a beach front one when we go back...and we will!

The staff are just really nice people. Couldn't ask for more.

The resort is a five minute drive from Senggigi, and taxis are available at any time. cost is about 12,000Rp one way.

We booked for 4 days and extended our stay because we loved it so much. We stayed in the sea view bungalow, and sea view it was, our terrace had an unspoilt view of the beautiful ocean, we gad our own sun-beds at the edge of the sea situated on the sea defenses with steps that went down to the beach, this was stoney bur you could still swim from here, and snorkel.
5 mins walk to the sandy secluded beach, were all the fishing boats are. We hired one to take us over to the Gilli Isle which is about 1 hour, barter for best price and pay on return journey to ensure they pick you up.
The staff at the hotel are lovely, attentive and very smiley, nothing is to much very helpful indeed. We ate there most evening as the food and service were faultless, and price wise very reasonable.
Sengiggi is a short cheap taxi ride away and the staff will book your taxi for you, no problems they also have a free service, which we didn't use as the times were not convenient for us.
Memorable stay lovely accomodation will dfinatly go again.
Book online as much cheaper.
