“Worst backpacking experience of my trip”
Reviewed February 24, 2014 via mobile

This place was horrible, I have stayed in some bad places on my travels but this was the worst. From the reviews I thought it was going to be amazing but now I have a feeling that some reviews are set up.

I arrived here and nobody spoke English, like nobody. The bed was so dirty with black hair and stains all over it, I had to lay on a towel to sleep that night. To get the connecting bathroom we had to walk outside down a private path, it was expectedly basic which I can do, although the toilet was covered in ants, so much so we couldn't go.
It was the most expensive bintang sold to us after traveling the whole of bali, lombok and Sumbawa!

I give them ups though for providing breakfast in the morning which we didn't expect. A cheese and Nutella sandwich, surprisingly not bad!
The children played in the fresh water pool after school and that was fun watching them and also swimming.

All In all, I would never go back, it was more expensive that places I've been staying so I didn't expect a dirty bed and bathroom

A wonderful place to stay in Mataram!! You can swim in drinking quality water in a pool where local kids swim and play.. this place looks like a resort but is good for backpackers too. plus this place supports the local community. guests can watch tv, swim in the pools ( with flying fox, balance beam and tire swing!) try local food and drinks at the restaurant / karaoke bar onsite. Walking distance to the big mall. This place is well known in the community and easy to find. Staff is Great and rooms are big!

This is a place to stay like non I have stayed at before, the staff were great and very keen to learn English. Accommodation was good and the nighttime kaoreke was really good. The pools for the poor kids is an excellent set up and a great project by the owners.
It is not far from town - shopping is great and Mt Rinjani is a beautiful mountain park to visit.

Room Tip: All seem nice,

“GREAT VALUE & A FUN EXPERIENCE” This is the only place I have been where you get to meet lots of locals in a natural environment. The mornings are sunny & very peaceful and some older people come down to the springs to use the temple. The afternoons are when the poor kids finish school & are invited to come have fun by Amnesty Award Winner & owner Ekadana who built the pools especially for these kids, many live in 2mx2m homes & sleep on dirt floors. The kids absolutely love the natural pools, there are flying foxes, tyres (all free) a pole and they love their photos taken. Early evening is quiet and the restaurant is at local prices - try the chicken hot plate at around $4. Around 9 the locals start coming down, it is the local hot spot where everyone comes to sing, Saturday is band night, it’s not nightclub just a place where locals of all ages hang out, do Karaoke, everybody is friendly, staff are great but for many the English is not so good but they are keen to learn.
They have just recently opened this place up to Backpackers and not many people have discovered this place yet”

Room Tip: You have a choice of 8 Bungalows, if your not going to stay up with the locals, get a room down the...
