“here now and never again.........”
Reviewed July 22, 2012

we (my daughter her b-bfriend and I) had it booked by a friend that lives and works in Lombok! the intention was great, little place very traditional, something "unique" to see......(must say he never stayed here) surprise surprise.... really unique in the worst sense of the word!
the hotel in itself could potentially be fantastic, great views from the rooms, just across the street from the beach and little stores and cafes. the Hotel is built on the side of a hill, to go to the rooms you climb few stairs, the pool is of a very good size and well kept, the grounds are kept well groomed and has wonderful plants and flowering bushes of all kinds. the staff is also very sweet and smiling..... And til' here all good BUT.......The rooms whilst are fairly good in size, are dingy, with very badly kept "potentially" great authentic balinese furniture, not a cupboard with long hanging space (and ok, i know that not everyone will have "long dresses") but hey i do .....the matresses are OH MY GOSH old, dirty and i mean dirty and stained, the pillows hard as a rock but the sheets are at least clean..... the electric plugs are falling off the wall and few don't work at all, bathrooms are, to say the least horrible, in mine water was shut and when i figured it out how to open it i knew why, each faucet was leaking.....
the breakfast is mostly balinese, which is ok by all means (love asian food) is poor, no fresh juice but Tang instead......well here i stop......unfurtunately for us will have to spend another night here but we'll be leaving tomorrow morning FOR SURE!! going to the Gili's
too bad because Lombok is a lovely island, in fact much better than Bali if you ask me!!
too bad!

Room Tip: we stayed at 125 and 126 and can't reccomend any

Dear Customer,

We are very sorry that the room did not meet to your expectations.
We have recently started with a major renovation and renewal of all our rooms, which is currently put on hold for the July and August high season and most of it should be finished by the middle of December 2012.
We wish to point out to you that it was your choice to use the cheapest standard rooms at our property instead of the only slightly more expensive deluxe rooms.

With regards to our breakfast, we offer a wide range of Indonesian food, rarely any specific Balinese food, with a different variety every day and with fresh fruit and toast. Omelets, pancakes and fruit juices are made fresh in the kitchen and our staff actively offers these products to our customers, without any extra charges.
For products like Tang, I can guarantee that we never use these kind of products and select food products with the greatest care.

Therefore I understand that our hotel could not stand up to your expectations but we are confident that with the work which will continue in September 2012 the room issues pointed out will not exist any more.

Thank you for your feedback.

My friends and I (group of 5 females) stayed in this hotel for 3 nights in May 2012. To be honest, we were a little hesitant to stay in this hotel after reading a few unpleasant review on this website. But the other hotel our travel agent suggested was fully booked, so we had to stay here. First impression was, old building, old room, old air conditioner, old plumbing, etc. But as we spent more time (and compared with another hotel), we began to appreciate it.

Here are the reviews in details :
1. Our room was up on the hill and it was a good hike causing us to pant going up (and down). You might want to prepare some ointment for your feet if you're not used to hiking or power-walking because your calf might sore a bit after.

2. The AC took a while to get the room chilled because the room was quite spacious.

3. The mattress was big (we got queen sized bed for 2 people) and the blanket was warm
enough.

4. The bathroom was clean and there was hot water tap. Be careful, though, because when the hotel was full, you might not get hot water. I'm not sure why, but when we complained to the front desk, that was their excuse. Not enough hot water for everyone to use if the rooms are fully occupied. They did provide shampoo in sachet, soaps and toilet papers.

5. There was coffee, tea, and sugar in sachets with a heating pot and large bottle of water, so you can have hot beverages whenever you like.

6. There was TV with local channels and a few cable channels (sports, HBO and news). But hey, you didn't visit Lombok to watch TV, right?

7. The view from the balcony was great! We stayed in room 214 and 213, which are side by side, and when we got to the balcony, we could see the oceans and boats roaming in the sea.

8. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. When we arrived, bellboys were ready to help us carry our luggage. We tipped them IDR5,000 for 1 luggage. Each could carry 2-3 suitcases up the stairs. (not sure if the tip was enough, though). Every morning they would patrol around the rooms, ready to help any guests with the luggage who were going to check out.

9. Breakfast served are pretty standard : fried rice, fried noodle, fried egg, chicken, fruit platter, white bread, wholewheat bread, butter, and jam, coffee & tea. There was no toast machine, though. If the restaurant was not crowded, the waiter usually went around with coffee & tea pot filling/refilling your cup.

All in all, we were very satisfied with our room and the service we received.

Room Tip: if you're fit enough, ask for a room up on the hills to get great views of the ocean.

I stayed here for one night in a twin share room. There are a lot of stairs so it made it very difficult to get your luggage up the hill. The rooms are very old, especially the bathroom. The roof leaked in my room onto the bed. There was no pressure so no hot water. There were nice views and it was quiet. The whole area is a little seedy.

Im unsure why this hotel has received bad reviews. We stayed in a bungalow right at the top. The staff carried our bags up the mountain of steps. We had a lovely balcony with amazing views. The traditional furniture is a lovely touch. Really makes you feel like you are immersed in their culture! great location, 5 minute walk from the beach. Clean and tidy. Only let down is the aircon, just needs upgrading. Pool and garden areas are beautiful. Staff are extremely pleasant and helpful. I would recommend and visit again.

We arrived on a shuttle from Gili Trawagan which stopped in front of the tourist information center. Normally we wouldn't book a hotel thru them but we needed a flight as well. The Puri Bunga was astonishing. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The reception went out their way to make us feel welcomed. The room was large with a lot of storage space. The ac worked well, the shower had hot & cold water, and coffee and tea were provided. There are a lot of stairs but they are spread out so carrying 25 kilos of luggage was no problem. The location is to the north across from the art market but close enough walk to everything. The beach is thru the market along with some restaurants. The pool and surrounding areas were always clean and well maintained. I would definately stay here again although it is more expensive than some home stays. The breakfast itself was worth the extra money.

I struggled to give this place a rating of one! My boyfriend and I had booked 2 nights here, (a friend had booked on our behalf) but after 10 minutes of being in the room we decided to check out! The staff were unfriendly - not a smile in sight! The room we were given was dark, dingey and dirty. The mattress didn't even fit the bed base! The bathroom was awful and it think if i'd have had a shower in there I would have felt dirtier than before I got in! I did not feel comfortable or safe staying in there. The only plus side was the fantastic views from the higher up rooms.
Even though we had paid for the hotel in advance, within 10 minutes of being in the room we decided to check into the Sheraton across the road which was far nicer. We lost money, but didn't care!

my family and i booked 2 nights, but we decided to check out after 1 night, because we didn't feel comfortable to stay there. it's an old cottage. the old air con didn't work very well. the bed was hard. and the rooms were smelly. :-( the door was too short, even for local tourists like us. we had to bend down to pass through the door. my bro got a bleeding injury on his head because he bumped onto the door.

when we try to swim, my little cousin got an accident. some tiles of the pool had broken. and those broken tiles injured her. she got a bleeding cut on their foot. the hotel staffs were nice, they gave her the first aid.

the hotel location was very strategic. they had such a nice view. they have a wide yard/ outdoors to play around for kids and we could watch the traditional dances that were held at the market's stage from the hotel's yard/ balcony.
