My 10-year old daughter, my wife, and I love Oro very much.

The owners Lukas & Siska and their two daughters Noni & Elsa are so warm & friendly. My daughter instantly became friends with Noni & Elsa, swimming & playing together on the hotel's beach, which is... paradise. The calm & clear water, the pristine white sand beach, the beautiful rocks, ah, I just can't say anything justified about this dreamy beach.

We love the hut we slept in. When staying in places as natural as Sumba, we want to stay in this type of room/hotel. It's not too much (who wants TV when in paradise?), not too little (big bed, open top shower, verandah).

We had a wonderful chat with Siska & Lukas every night, they have such an interesting life. And Siska's cooking, oh, it's marvelous! I would've considered myself lucky if I'd had something edible in such a remote place as Sumba, but Siska's meals are sooooo goooood :)

To me, Oro is a perfect place to stay in Sumba. In such a natural place as Sumba, I want to stay in a down to earth, charming, warm, personal place obviously built on love. And that's Oro!

Room Tip: I think the huts are all equally good.

We loved Oro. Lucas Siska and the girls are lovely and became friends to us in the week we were there. The bungalow was spacious and overlooked the lovely white sand beach. Yes, it is basic, yes it is isolated but this is Sumba not Bali :-) Our food was good as longt as you can cope with relaxed time schedules and choices. You will need to hire a driver or a moped to get around. Thoroughly recommend. Thank you!

I have travelled extensively around Sumba and this hotel is a gem of a place. The owners Siska and Lukas are a fantastic couple and the place has a wonderful family feel to it.
We stayed in the aircon room in the house and it was top class with a huge bed and a box mosquito net so you get the run of the whole bed! It was super clean too with gorgeous en suite.
Siska and staff are great cooks and the food is just delicious. She even bakes her own yummy bread sometimes.
The beach is beautiful and snorkelling is excellent.
I can't recommend this place enough. It's an easy relax in a difficult to travel island!

We had a wonderful 5 night stay in Oro Beach! Initially we were planning to stay just 3 nights but ended up extending as it proved such a lovely spot, and we were able to use it as a base for our explorations of west Sumba. Siska, and her staff, were warm and attentive. We celebrated our son's 11th birthday at Oro, and Siska went out of her way to make it a memorable experience for all of us. The beach bungalow was perfect for the three of us and all meals exceptional. We hope to return soon to lovely Oro Beach!

In need for a place for recovering after some temporary health problem, for us this was really a lovely place to stay. The helpful owners Luca and Sisca created this beautiful and quiet spot. The bungalow is comfortable and situated less than 1 minute walk from the beach and the sea. Go for a walk early in the morning and at the end of the day! If you like spicy food: let them prepare spicy fish for you, fresh and tasty!

Very charming, family-run hotel at a stone-throw from one of the most beautiful beaches ever! The German owner and his wife from Flores did a great job in setting up a basic - good quality - business. There's a spacious bungalow overlooking the sea and some rooms in the main building, all build with natural materials and allowing maximal air circulation. Since electricity only runs at certain times (like in almost all hotels on Sumba), the AC won't help you much to stay cool at night. Food was excellent, with the added charm of being able to hand-pick your fish or octopus when local fishermen come by with their 'catch of the day'.
Getting to the hotel might be quite a challenge on rainy days since the access road is not yet asphalted. Like everywhere in Sumba, car transport is only available at high price, so we found renting mountainbikes was the ideal way of exploring the area. Check-out the museum of Pater Robert (Rumah Budaya) in Waitabula!

Room Tip: The bunalow overlooks the sea and is nice and spacious

I am so happy I found the delightful and welcoming Oro Beach houses. Owners Lukas and Sisca and family were charming and very warm hosts and went out of their way to make my week there so good including really interesting tours around the island. The food was delicious at EVERY meal and the circular shaped bungalow was very clean and comfortable and just a few steps from the most wonderful beach you can imagine with clear blue sea and fantastic long walks. I will most definitely return to Oro Beach houses and encourage friends and family to do so too!
