Hotel looks wonderful until you look a little closer. It appears that it hasn't been finished off properly and in some areas not built properly for example the decking around the pool is warping because it hasn't been installed properly. The pool looks fabulous and has a wonderful view, but it could use a good clean because it was slimy on the bottom and around the edges? The room layout was fine, but in the bathroom our basin overflowed onto the floor because the tap leaked when you turned it on. An in room safe would have been good. Breakfast was also disappointing with a lot of the dishes cold but in a warmer. Everywhere you look there are wires exposed and unfinished details. On the plus side it really has great potential if there was a little attention to detail and was clean and tidy in general, .

Stayed there for an office event. We book a twin share room plus an extra bed. My friend have to order extra bed few times before she gets what she wants. Food was average but the staff are friendly. Close to shop that sells local food (spicy chips)

Stayed here during a school trip

The hotel's exterior is just simply remarkable. It's quite odd to see a modern hotel housed within a colonial-like building, that's when you realise that it's the Ambacang. The rooms are generally modern and has modern bathrooms, but there are many scratches and unfinished and unpainted details on the walls and ceiling. Some rooms had holes in their curtains and some curtains actually had stains. Pretty odd for a relatively new hotel. At my friend's room, the night club was so loud, the room was shaking (they can't sleep, and they described it as being like an earthquake. That's just bad, remembering the fate of the site's predecessor, the Ambacang which collapse during the 2009 earthquake). Our breakfast was cold, and there wasn't many choices either.

My friends and I stayed for a night on our way back from Bukit Tinggi. Room was neat and clean. Kinda chic too. Breakfast spread was impressive - with both local delicacies and western delight. You will be spoilt! No mistake, if I am ever in Padang, I'll be back again to this hotel!

I wish I could recommend this hotel. It is a handsome building with a grand lobby and a lovely staff, but its negatives outweigh all of that. We checked in in the early evening, but the hotel at that time was so short-staffed that our bags had to wait outdoors for ten minutes until the sole bellman had the time to care for them. The room we were taken too was, especially in comparison to the lobby's elegance, disappointingly functional. Worse, the door to the balcony swung freely open, no key to be found. Two workmen came to check in response to my phone call for help. They told me to wait. I waited . . . until I made my way to reception and asked for another room. We were given a new room with a secure balcony. But once ready to sleep, we heard the booming bass of the nightclub housed in the hotel. Not just heard . . . we felt (I am not exaggerating) the whole room shake from the vibrations of the club's bands. (Given that this new hotel stands on the site where the Hotel Ambacang collapsed during Padang's 2009 earthquake, a vibrating room is the last thing the new hotel's management should want its patrons to experience.) The bands play until 3 am. I couldn't sleep soundly until then. We did sleep a bit late into the morning because of this, but we made it to the buffet breakfast an hour before it closed only to find all the dishes, and the food in them, cold. Never again.

i stay here often when im in and out of padang and of the few ive stayed at i would rate this one the best! the rooms are spacious with cable tv, noce bathrooms with toothbrush etc....
this hotel was recently built so is in good condition. it has a massive lobby and breakfast buffet is massive with so much to choose from (eggs, rice, noodles, veggies fruit, other indo foods, breads, cake, cereal... and more)

i didnt even know it had a pool on the roof so thats another plus because padang can get very muggy. location good too- walk to toko saudara (just a shop stocking international things) for western type snacks or a few local restaurants close by... theres an ATM next to hotel too...
