“Beautiful Lake”
Reviewed May 9, 2014

From Bukittinggi, on the way to the Minangkabau Airport in Padang, we took a detour via Lake Maninjau. First we stopped at a small restaurant to see Panorama view of Sungai Landia. Nice view of the landscape. We then proceeded to a place named 'Ambun Pagi' to see the whole view of Maninjua Lake. It was 44th point on top of the hill. 16 Kilometers long and 6 Kilometers wide lake was looking magnanimous. We then proceeded on a zig-zag road to reach down the hill, passing through various view points, numbering in descending order.

We reached to a place named 'Arien Homestay'- very close to the lake where kids were swimming in clean waters. Here few cottages for stay, and a restaurant serving freshly cooked food, was available. Very cool, lovely, and peaceful place to spend time with your family on the Banks of this beautiful lake.

“Cold and peaceful place”
Reviewed January 28, 2014

The water is warm and the view is breath taking! It is worth to stay here for 1 or 2 night. The place is quiet and relaxing.

“Pretty lake, thrilling drive down but some unfortunate pollution”
Reviewed January 2, 2014

The lake is large and beautiful, but there is a fair amount of pollution in the actual water...enough that I wasn't particularly tempted to go swimming...

The drive down the hill was full of hairpin turns, which was pretty exciting.

“Beautiful laid back lake”
Reviewed January 2, 2014 via mobile

Great place to kick back and relax a few days. Internet is slow or unavailable, there is no TV in guesthouses. Best way to spend a day is to rent a motorbike and do the 60km circuit of the lake. The far side is more rural and scenic.

“Breathtaking view from the top of the world”
Reviewed December 29, 2013 via mobile

This place is the well-known place for paragliding activity near Bukittinggi.

The view is magnificent as I saw the mist rising from the ground, enveloped by the fog, and went up together to be folded by the clouds.

The surface of Lake Maninjau is so tranquil that it reflects hills surrounding it, while the greenery lay across the whole ground surrounding the lake like carpets.

Before going up to puncak lawang by stairs, you will be welcomed by rows of pine trees and winding road down.

On the way there, you can see sugarcane fields. And if you are lucky you'll get to see local home industry making black sugar with the help from buffalo.
