We returned to Deli River for the second time because we already appreciated the beauty of it and the very kind and accurate service we experienced the first time. We enjoyed our stay this time for hundred percent again. Assets of Deli River are in particular the green and beautiful environment, the comfortable rooms, the quietness and last but not least the accurate, welcoming and customer friendly approach and attitude by the personnel. We gladly recommend Deli River.

We stayed as a family for three days from 18th to 20th April 2014. The palace is an hour drive from the new airport. I had opted for their travels service with a customized tour. The driver Dedy was very helpful and proactive. He made sure we were comfortable the two days he took us on the tour. The hotel is very clean and their food at the restaurant is also very good. They have simple and decent spread for breakfast. The place is very quiet. They give you free Wifi access and the data speed is very good. The owner takes good care of you and makes sure you feel at home.As we had an early flight out of medan, they packed us breakfast box which is very balanced meal. I would recommend you to stay here even if it is out of city limits.

Hotel rooms are spacious, very comfortable, great balconies with view over the wonderful ample hotel garden and the green surroundings close to the City, but reflecting a magnificent tropical landscape. Very friendly, welcoming professional services, including great trip assistance.
Excellent facilities on the ground, including nice swimming pool with an enchanting view close to
the hotel restaurant, offering delicious meals and breakfasts.
We had a wonderful, memorable stay here.

My mother and I only had 3 free nights during our trip to Indonesia. We booked a 2 night stay in Bukit lawing through Trijaya Tour and Travel.

We were picked up by our driver at the airport. This driver had not mastered English yet, but this tour company does employ drivers who can speak English. My mom can speak Indonesian so she was able to communicate with our driver and the trip was a very animated one! At our request the driver took us to a little 'waring' because we really wanted to eat a Sumatran dish called "rendang". We took a bit of a risk eating at a waring on day 1 of our trip to Indonesia, but we enjoyed our food and had no GI upset afterwards.

We stayed at the beautiful Ecolodge Bukit Lawang Cottages. From there it was an easy hike to see the orang utans the next day. What an experience! we saw a mother and baby and later on a juvenile male. Our guide was very knowledgeable and very attentive to my 78 year-old mom for whom the initial part of the hike was quite steep. An extra guide actually came along in case my mom decided she could not continue. We walked through a rubber plantation to get to the reserve. On the way we saw Long-tailed macaque monkeys, Thomas Leaf monkeys. The forest was breathtakingly beautiful (so sad to know that so much of Suamtra's amazing rain forest has been destroyed by palm oil companies--SHAME ON THEM-and the government for letting this happen.

The ecolodge was an amazing spot: beautiful gardens, lots of information on orang utans and other flora and fauna. The restaurant was very cozy and served delicious indonesian food (we really enjoyed the fried tofu, soups and gado gado)

Room Tip: All the rooms are wonderful with verandas to sit outside, umbrellas in case of rain. NO HOT WATER...

we were only on transit in medan and really enjoyed our stay at deli river. i know, it's a bit more expensive but it's all the money worth. the staff is very friendly and the rooms nice and clean...and although it's not the closest to the airport it's worth spending a night there.

The hotel is located on outskirts of Medan which is great (can easily get a cab into town if you want as staff will ring one for you) and has nice gardens in a gully like setting which separates the accommodation from the restaurant/Hotel proper.
Being set down from road helps to reduce noise although did get woken by the dawn call from a mosque. Also has an airconditioner.
Stayed a total of 3 nights here at either end of a tour we arranged and we were very happy with our selection.
Food was good in the Omlandia restaurant and the staff were always helpful and the manager was friendly too. Strange thing for us was that the room had a hairdryer but not a fridge, however no other places we stayed had one either.
fourposter style bed with mosquito net surrounds and room size was ok.
prices whilst higher than elsewhere in Sumatra that we experienced still seemed cheap at start of holiday.
Hotel is about an hour from the new airport or centre of Medan but then the traffic is pretty bad everywhere in Medan with most lane markings or traffic islands seeming to be for decoration rather than splitting up traffic.
Found a few mosquitos here but the hotel provide a local repellant in the restaurant and we ended up buying and using the same as it smelt and went in so much better than the bushmans we took with us.
Happy to recommend this hotel

Hotel Deli River has a beautiful trankil setting quite far from the center of Medan. When I was staying there, there was some noise during the daytime from the construction of an additional building on the premises which took away a bit of the piecefull atmosphere. The room I stayed in was clean, but pretty basic, with two single beds (though I had asked for a queen sized bed) and a very tiny tv. The staff were friendly and the food served in the restaurant was nice, but the restaurant appeared a bit on the pricy side for a Medan restaurant. All in all I found my stay in Deli River OK, but both room and restaurant seemed a bit overpriced (European prices) compared to what else you can find in Medan.

Thank you for your comment. Regarding the construction, we would like to inform you on the fact that the construction of the new rooms was finished in July 2013. Concerning the price of meals we give the following example: a nasi goreng in our restaurant costs Rp. 54.000 in Indonesian rupiah equivalent to US$ 4.5. This consists of nasi goreng with omelete, three sticks sate, salad and kerupuk, which is not overpriced. About our rooms, they are very comfortable as you can read in other guestcomments. They are beautifully set in a tropical garden with view to the fish pond surrounded by fruit trees like mangosteen, rambutan, mango and guava. We have more than 16 varieties of birds and butterflies in our garden. The management of hotel Deli River
