“family trip to medan”

Front desk had very standard services that they can provide for 5star hotels...I had to complaint first to front office manager before I got two room nearby my children room or connecting room...because when on the beginning i told them that I will stay with my baby and two children below 12 years old.

Actually I want to stay two nights but because i was unsatisfied with the service so i had early check out and move to other hotels.

The next day I just realize that i had missing my short pant in this hotel and i was check to the hotel in the morning and Housekeeper said they found out my short and i can take directly after in the front desk. But three hour after my phone call, I just came to the front desk then had to wait another 30 minutes once my flight schedule was so tight.

I had to rush to the airport then...unbelievable...please improve your services to every guests without exception.

Room Tip: Please ask them about the room view...because I got very bad location/view on the beginning then com...

Had not been to Medan before and therefore did not know what to expect in terms of hotel quality. Luckily I couldnt have been more surprised by the extremely good service and quality of the hotel when I arrived. The location was just right, and ajoining a shopping area which was convenient. The front desk were very helpful and welcoming.

The rooms and bathrooms are very spacious and comfortable, and the facilities including the pool and spa area were also ideal. I will definitely be staying there again and would recomend to freinds if they were passing through Medan.

We checked in, and they refused us the free breakfast that was promised on the Expedia.com booking page. I pointed out the online web page, and still got refused. Finally, they said they'd ask a manager, but we didn't hear from them until we'd been in the room for awhile.

The breakfast was an ok one by Indonesian standards, but nothing to go out of the way for.

I was awakened one day by the front desk, asking if we wanted to extend our stay. We still had another day left!

We could hear lots of noise from our neighbor, including the phone ringing for what seemed like an hour.

The elevators are very slow at busy times. You may have to wait for 2-3 elevators, before there is space. Bathroom around the light fixture for the sink was quite dirty. Looks like it had been dirty for months.

The mall next door has some good food options. Sun Plaza also nice. Has a good movie theater.

Room Tip: Get a corner room, less noise from neighbors.

Stayed in this hotel for the second time because my first stay 2 years ago was pretty good and we love the location cause is just next to the mall. Sadly this time round was really disappointing. First of all 2 rooms were booked under my sister's name, they gave us one room first cause the other one was not ready. We asked are they next to each other, they said it's across from each other. Then they change again said it's a few doors away... guess what after we got the key to the other room, it was at the other end of the corridor... hello??? Worse... the room was uncomfortable, has some smoke residue smell and it was suppose to be a non-smoking room?!?! To cut the long story short, my sister asked for room change and was moved to the 8th floor. So I stayed in level 9 while my sister is at level 8. Not Happy! :( Subsequently one bad experience followed another... the shower door never seems to be able to close tightly so the bathroom floor is always wet with the water splashing out. The spa was not that great either, the therapist talked the entire time and they did not let us sign for our bill to the room, they followed us downstairs to get our money to pay them. Do guests normally bring their wallet to the spa when they are actually staying in the hotel? Lastly, the concierge took more than 15 minutes to come and get our luggages when I specifically instructed that they come within the 10 mins as we need to head for the airport. My sister and I ended up dragging our 3 luggages down for fear of missing our flight.

I am sad to say that the customer service in this hotel really needs a shaking up.

Swiss bell hotel is one of the best hotels in Medan.
I stayed only for 2 nights.

Location: Fantastic, in city center, next to a mall which several restaurents/coffee shops.

Service: Excellent. Iron with board came promtly, adaptor plug came promtly without any hefty charge unlike Sydney Hilton. if you need more, they will give you extra bottle of water.

Room: slightly dated carpet but other furnitures looked great, romm is lsigtly darker than ususal. tea/coffee facilities are available with free water as mentioned above.

Food: Ate breakfast, good selection of western and asian food, fresh fruits, good coffee. Ate dinner once, dinner buffet was ok but not fantastic. All prices were quite cheap.

Spa/Pool: Did not try, but heard from others that the massage was good and reasonably priced.
Front desk: Very polite and promt service, otel staff are very eager to serve. I left my passport, laptop in my room , was too lazy to use room safe and nothing happened. All service staff were very honest and eager to help.

I will definitely stay hear again on my next trip to Medan.

The hotel itself is nice, but not safe. We disposited some luggage for a few days while being on a guided tour and found money stolen from one of our bags. First time Asia travellers please be aware that this is common in Asia - you need an extra lock on your luggage even if you store it in such a high class hotel, because they ask you when you leave the bag if you have locked everything which is theire excuse later to say you should have known that it is possible that someone touches your personal belongings other than to put it in a safe room.

Additionally, a tip is expected for every little thing such as putting a third bed (you have booked) in the room that you expected to be there already when you arrive.

We have received your comment concerning the money that you allegedly lost at our hotel and we have investigated your report.
Unfortunately after an in-depth investigation and exhaustive CCTV search we did not find the money. The hotel did offer to make a police report with your sister which was declined. We have a policy upon baggage been left in concierge that the guest is required not to leave any valuables and written also in the luggage receipt.

The hotel is very successful with regular positive feedback so it is disappointing that you had to endure this loss. I must stress that this is the first time we have had a theft report from one of our guests. A follow up training in conjunction with our regular training program has been carried out with all relevant personnel to insure that no incidents occur in the future.

We are committed to always improving our quality and ensuring we can reach above and beyond your expectations. During your stay with us we continually strive to provide an excellent service and product so that you personally can see our continued improvement.

This hotel was such value for money. The rooms are great, the breakfast is an international gourmet feast, the service staff are friendly and nothing was too much trouble. There is a shopping mall located under the hotel, it is small but has a nice Thai restaurant and a supermarket which stocked all our needs.

Room Tip: We were there during an earthquake and the hotel was stable and quite safe.
