I really enjoyed my stay at Hello Guesthouse. Great value (Rp.120,000 per night for a double room), hot shower, free wifi and good location. Was initially disturbed by the fact that they did not have any fans in the room but it was surprisingly cool at night. The prayer calls at 430am every day from a mosque nearby may be disruptive to some but I got used to it after a wall. The guesthouse owners, Ling and her mum were very friendly and hospitable.
After an adventur trip around Sumatra i ended up in Bukittinggi, wich is a perfect place to rest and relax thanks to the fresh climate. Even better if you stay in this lovely guest house wich is the nicest and cleanest place i've found in Sumatra in this range of price.
The owners are a lovely chinese family, very friendly and helpfull.
The daughtet Ling also speak a good english and cook very good breakfast in her restaurant.
If you are in bukittinggi this is the choice.

seriously loved with this guesthouse and especially Ibu (the owner of the guesthouse) and Ling (the daughter of Ibu). Ibu and Ling are very friendly and help me a lot during my trip there. the guesthouse is located at the center of the Bukittinggi town. you can go to a lot of attractive place there just by walking like Panorama, Jam Gadang, Fort De Koch and Zoo. there are also have a lot of restaurant and food stall near the guesthouse but you must try chicken porridge and Lontong Sayur at the Ibu stall. superb delicious..!! the price of the guesthouse also reasonable and the cheapest place from my observation just IDR 125 000 per night.
in the nut shell, i really positively recommend to try Hello Guesthouse, Bukittinggi. You won't regret it. :)

I came to bukittinggi with a friend at 8 pm and didn't book any accommodation. We only have the guest house's address and some faith that we can get a room in the middle of the week, and thankfully we did! We got a double bed room and bathroom with hot shower (important for bukittinggi relatively cooler climate), we didn't get the tv but we thought that who want to watch tv while traveling, right? well, the tv actually can help you to mask the sound from next door or from the lobby or from the mosque down the road. The acoustic in the middle room we were in was good, we almost can hear everything. But that don't make us disappointed! because the room and bath was clean, they provide internet wifi, unlimited hot water, coffee and tea as much as we like, and great advices on getting around town. Ling and her parents were very friendly and helpful. They were open to chat and have great recommendation on places we need to visit plus how to get there. they also help us getting transport back to Padang. It was a delightful (albeit short) experience in bukittingi with this guest house!

I love traveling and stay at the hostel because most of the time I travel by myself, so it's just fun to talk with other travelers at the hostel while making a cup of hot coffee or just sitting alone in living room or such. As Indonesian, I don't find any hostel accomodation like I found overseas. Maybe it's still not really common here. I'm glad that in Bukittinggi, I discovered this type of accomodation. Hey girl, keep up the good job, then. ;)
It's still new and clean, of course cheaper than the rest accomodation in Bukittinggi. But it goes with hot water which is important in Bukittingi, the water is very cold without heater.
The owner of this hostel is friendly and nice. It's worth the stay for a budget traveler who wanna enjoy Bukittingi and surroundings.
