“Food and friendlyness”

Turret café is located in the street under the walk-bridge in the mainstreet from Bukittinggi. The place has exellent food and the local speciality Rendang. If you like beef, TRY this! It is possibly one of the best way to cook it. It takes 2 days to make it and it has a good structure and great taste. And best of all it's not spicy (you can ask it if you like it of course) which is always nice in South East Asia.
If you dont want to miss any European football, this is also the place to be with a big screen HD quality games and they stay open till your game is finished.
The owner is a friendly woman and she can advise you on things to do around the area of Bukittinggi. There are sometimes guides walking in with nice stories, but they dont make you feel uncomfortable if you dont want to go or participate.
Last but not least: they have a clean western style toilet if you dont want to squad and feel like sitting :P
Last last, but not least, there is WIFI with a good connection.

The food is great here! Try the beef rendang, it's delicious! The desserts (rice pudding and pisang goreng) are recommended too! The owner, Nita, is very friendly.

“Bravo turret cafe”

Nice place to eat, for drinks or both. Staff are very friendly and helpful, and can talk through options for local tours. Honest and good advice for traveling beyond bukittinggi. Anita's food is excellent and reasonably priced. Also big screen tv for international sports. Wifi. Can't go wrong here.

From the breakfast to the dinner you'll be enchanted by a delicious food and a wonderful smile from Anita, the friendly owner.

The homemade bread and the beef rendang are must try!
(Big up to the western toilets).

“Maybe we are a little old for here!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 31, 2013

Lonely Planet said the guacamole was the best in town. Thank goodness we did'nt go to the worst place for this simple dish which appeared to be mainly garlic. The garlic bread was greasy. Despite what it says on the menu they last had a small bottle of Bintang 2 years ago.
The traffic was predictably noisy and it was only that Spain were playing Georgia on the tele that made the visit of any consequence. As we were the only visitors the ambience was under whelming.
