Our stay: we stayed for 3 nights in a 1 bedroom bungalow.
Overall: it would be hard to imagine a better island retreat. Totally relaxing and a very thoughtfully designed resort.
Pluses: the resort has an archetypal tropical island feel - extremely lush and beautiful, with a great sense of seclusion. The bungalows are great. The ground floor has a bathroom and numerous seats and sofas, plus a separate cabana next to the water. The 1st floor has a king size bed looking out to the sea. As with everything else in the resort, it has been very carefully and beautifully designed - it was just a pleasure to be in, and felt very much like having a beachhouse on your own island. The food was delicious, plentiful, well prepared and with a lot of variety. There are separate eating areas for those with children and those without - something we (who did not have children) very much appreciated. The dining areas are lovely open pavilions, with sand as the floor. The resort is extremely well maintained, with many staff, who were uniformly helpful and pleasant. Wifi in the bungalow (at a small cost after 30 minutes use) was unexpected and welcome.
Minuses: none of any consequence. I thought it a pity that espresso coffee for breakfast came at an extra cost. Proper coffee and tea facilities in the bungalows would be welcome. The trip from Singapore takes about 4 1/2 hours all up. It's ok (the transfers are seamless and each party gets its own car rather than being put in a minivan), but the drive across Bintan Island is charmless - however we knew this and had decided to stay for 3 rather than 2 nights to compensate for the travel time.
In conclusion: we would go back at the drop of a hat. It was a highlight of our trip, and something that we had not experienced before.
