“Time to take break from busy city”
Reviewed December 18, 2012

Resort is away from rest of lagoi resorts. Is closer to nature and simple to take a break from the busy city. We took the Sea Villa room for 3D2N with a reasonable rate for Bintan resort. It was spacious and comfortable, especially like to slack during the afternoon at the back balcony of the Sea Villa. It's really relaxing time there and to get away from online. Surrounding environment is so great, peace and relax. Can even go hunt for clams and small crabs during low tide.

For food wise, the rates come with breakfast. It was simple and nice Indonesian style, maybe the resort can include some of western food like cereals, omelette or sausages. The resort has a kelong restaurant beside it. We can either eat in the restaurant or go on their city tour during evening time for local foods. At the kelong restaurant, they served fresh seafood, that are reasonable price. For 4 paxs, we ordered crab, lobster, gong gong, clams, veg and drinks cost around S$50 plus.

For their service wise, quite personal and friendly. We have enjoyed the service there. Their in-room massage was really cheap and good. Only that they should include some of spa packages if not it will be great.

I am sure to come back to this place again for the price I had paid for! Keep it up!

If your looking for a place to just relax. Practically sleeping and just resting. This is the place to be.

Bintan Sayang is like a second home for me. This is like my 3rd or 4th time visiting the place. It is a place for comfort and total relaxation. Why basically its away from the Internet, away from the busy life Singapore has to offer. One of the best thing i love about this place is its bed. Sleeping is what I lack the most and this place offers comfort. I supper love their bed and pillows. The moment I lay on those bed, for sure you'll see me sleeping. Next thing I look out for every time I go to Bintan Sayang is the FOOD. Man the food is just love. Those seafood and avocado juice are just the best. Service is also superb.

This place is definitely one of the places I will visit every six months..

Ill see u soon Bintan Sayang.. <3<3<3

Room Tip: SeaVilla is the best favorite room :)

After studying the reviews here, we decided to book Bintan Sayang (means love in Malay) for our much awaited first trip to Bintan. It seemed a bit of a risk to go outside the 'bintan resort' zone, but we thought worth a try. Of the 6 earlier reviews the last 5 seem quite positive and it was only the first review by SGTraveller that was negative. However after returning I must say our experience was more in line with SGTraveller.

Upon arrival at the BBT ferry terminal our pick-up was there waiting, but we had to wait for 3 other groups joining us. Frustratingly, one couple seemed to take forever, ie. about half an hour, so it took some time before we were headed off. Once going the transfer was rather smooth and we arrived in a little under half an hour. Arriving at around 2pm during low tide is not the best first impression as it's more of a mud flat than waterfront. Also the driveway to the resort is in terrible condition and the drivers have to zigzag from one side to the other to dodge the potholes. So not a great first impression.

Arriving at the hotel and check-in was smooth along with a welcome drink. We were shown to our room straight away and it a nice first impression, especially the large size. Generally it seems quite clean too, until we noticed an upside down (dead?) cockroach in the bathroom. Later that night when I had my shower I was quite shocked as I went to dry my hair and another cockroach jumped out of the towel ! Anyway, we tried to forget about these two incidents and not let it ruin our stay, but it was rather off-putting.

Regarding sleep, the beds are a little firm but quite okay. What we had trouble with was the noise, there seems to be hardly any sound insulation and the over-water bungalows are connected in pairs. They seem to allow up to 5 pax to stay in there which we had next door and it was very noisy into the night, and then again from 6am. It seems you can hear almost everything through the walls/connecting door.

As for the food, the breakfast was very basic but okay. The lunch and dinner at the restaurant was quite good and one of the nicest places to spend time with views across the sea. Unfortunately the chairs/tables are very basic as it could be much nicer if it was done up a little bit.

This was the theme elsewhere too, such as the pool which is quite a nice, large pool. However there is no shade - no trees nearby and no umbrellas. The deck chairs are rock hard and very uncomfortable to lie on. It's okay for a swim but almost impossible to hang around there in any comfort because they haven;t finished it off with the final finishing touches. Quite a shame as it has potential but seems still in development/incomplete stage.

We did the city tour, which was misleading as it's basically dropping you off in the nearby village for an hour or so, without any guidance/direction whatsoever. We took a transfer to Nirwana Gardens for $25 return. We also had the in-room massage as part of our package and that was quite good.

Overall: We didn't really enjoy the 3 nights for several of the reasons mentioned above which spoilt the potential of this place to provide a relaxing and pleasant retreat. I can't complain too much as the price very affordable but hope the resort will try to make a few improvements as it has a lot to offer potentially. Good place for families especially those liking outdoor activities such as fishing, crabbing etc.

One of the lesser known resorts.

Everything from booking of room, pickup from ferry terminal, and trip back to the terminal for departure was quite seamless.

Friendly staff and good, efficient service.

Room is spacious and very clean. Well-equipped and functioning.

Food is tasty and reasonably priced. Menu could have more variety though .... and perhaps the restaurant can open later into the night.

Quite a number of free actvities included with the room like use of bicycles, pool table, KTV. Rented an electric scooter for SGD12/hour.

Pool and surround area is beautiful - you might think you're in a 5-star spa resort.

Bintan Sayang is a tranquil, quiet place for those who dislike crowds, noise, and overpriced accomodation and food.

I would go back there again. Perhaps the management there can think of a few more activities for guests.

My family of 5 (Hubby, myself and our 3 young kids) decided to check out this resort during the recent June Holidays. Despite limited reviews, we decided to take the chance and booked the rooms for a 5D/4N stay. It was the most wonderful, enjoyable, relaxing and great family bonding vacation!! We never regretted any moment of it!!!!

The service staff was excellent! Before going to the resort, I had secretly made arrangements for them to bake me some cupcakes to celebrate "Father's Day", which was on the day of our arrival, as a surprise for the Dad. The cupcakes were beautifully decorated with pictures and our kids names....and the taste was delicious!! (Thank you, Amy!!)

The rooms were very spacious and clean. The bathroom was also huge and clean, with a big bathtub. The room comes with an A/C unit, which we only use during night-time coz it is very windy throughout!! We would open the front and back doors daily for the winds to 'run though' the room. The only disadvantage of the room was that they do not have a mini fridge. However, could ask for a bucket of ice anytime. It comes in a cooler box. There are comfortable seats on the verandah, both front and back. My kids were already making lots of noise, thank god that there were no guests in the room beside ours!!

The sounds of the waves has a very soothing and mesmerizing effect, accompanied with the winds.....you could juz fall asleep right at the verandah. Time basically stopped for you! The garden was beautifully landscaped and the kids were practically enjoying their free open spaces, running around.

Low tides are great for exploring the marine life......the kids kept picking up sea-shells and getting excited with hermit crabs found in them! They were even more excited when one of the resort staff brought them on an 'adventure' tour of the sea during low-tide looking for marine life and making sail boats. There was also a pontoon slide which the kids could play with. There was also small kayaks to use.

The swimming pool is nice and very clean. The kids spend a lot of time there too. There was a huge fishing pond which my hubby, a fishing enthusiast, spend some time there fishing. However, instead of catching fish, he caught 2 flower crabs instead! We had the crabs for dinner (chilli crab) that day!

There is only one restaurant, Tun Teja, which serves reasonably priced meals of fresh seafood daily. You could specify your preferences for the dish and the staff will gladly cater to your needs! My 3 young kids are fussy eaters...

There is a small games room consists of 2 snooker tables with unlimited usage. During the period of our stay, there were not many guests at the resort, so we practically have the whole place to ourselves. The kids enjoyed their daily drawing and coloring sessions, if they are not swimming or exploring. The resort staff were always willing to interact and answer the kids questions.

The resort was soooo wonderful that we wanted to extend our stay for another day.....however, we were unable to change our ferry departure time. Somehow, we know that we would be back again.....soon!

Room Tip: Inform the resort staff in advance if you are traveling with young kids so that they could arrange a...

went there for a 3d2n trip with my boyfriend. we love kampung style
resorts so this place suits us nicely. our room was big and clean. the toilet was clean. but the back veranda which was facing the sea was littered with bat droppings so we avoided sitting behind. other than that we were pretty much satisfied. the swimming pool was big, clean and well
maintained. the poolside was surprisingly not dusty at all. the seafood was delicious. the staff were always more than happy to help with a smile. they had good command of english too.
the city tour only cost SGD8. which is cheap. but mind u the city tour is the village 'city' which means its kampung style too. we were thrilled
cos we love trying out street food n finding great bargains.

the only setback was that our room airconditioning was bad. the maintenance crew did try to fix it and the room was just slightly cooler. overall a great place with peace n quiet. just 20mins drive from the ferry terminal.
